The Week on the Breadboard: The Emperor of Tone

Admittedly, he said O for Orson. Like his trainer.. but you can’t stand in the way of a good meme! 😅

    Pelota 2 szukalski board

Enjoy! Dylan159 did the hard work. I just put together a paint by numbers :)

    Mos-Tron Envelope Filter (Dylan159's Chewborg)

Unbelievably hot!! Loving it! The real reason I asked for a link was selfish. The layout looks great and I want one!

Hard Rock Pinnacle Purebred Drive (Animals Diamond Peak CDB mod), new PCB revision

I like them in the Electra as well. Kudos on the PCB evolution, it’s really nice to see so many great layouts on the forum these days. Totally agree with the metal knobs, I got some smaller Daier ones and they make the difference. For anything worth keeping , they’re my go to!

We using inches or millimeters around here? (Is there a PedalPCB standard for pot spacing?)

Metric rocks because that’s the number of fingers I currently have. I have to say, the PPCB spacing standard is great. Apart from having to do research of my own, it works efficiently across 125B, 1590B/BB/LB!

Hard Rock Pinnacle Purebred Drive (Animals Diamond Peak CDB mod), new PCB revision

How do you like the 2N2218? I found them a nice option for a lot of things. Great for Si Fuzzface.

    Bring out yer Diptrace

I haven't got experience in it, but I saw some comments from old hands over at FSB talking about isolating the LFO in one part of the board and using a separate ground plane, only joining where the negative input comes into the board...

    Bring out yer Diptrace

@rwl Looking good in general. Mostly aesthetic preferences, though I am no EE! I would look at some of the placements around the IO and pots. For example, in the compressor, there are high standing capacitors around the Makeup and Attack pots. That may be a little annoying to solder. Similar...

JFET alternatives for Boss PH-1 Phaser. Can I use any matched quad?

I started measuring them to match. After the 6th or 7th one in a row which was in range, I just assumed (ha) that the batch I got would be good enough to go blind with. It's an easy test, just a DMM and a few parts.

Tayda order - EU Customs process

Basically, what it amounts to is that DHL have to go through every line, work out what the item is, and add the correct customs code. If you have a lot of items, then a lot of work. It’s ultimately a problem which can be solved by Tayda handling the EU tax like other larger vendors, but...

Tayda order - EU Customs process

I'd also check your inventory that you got from DHL, classifying the items. You should have been charged per line-item "type" and not per line-item. For example, if you have 10 different resistors, then that's one line-item type. Like-wise, ICs should fall under another type. If you order a...

    Single knob overdrives?

You can also make a three knob into a one knob fairly easily. Either hard value the volume and tone, or make them internal trim pots.

Hot D*A*M! And a couple of others.

These look great! I love the D*A*M stuff, though they generally need proper transistor selection as you mentioned. If you haven't tried it, the FS-77 is one of my favourites. TB Mk3 with input blend and AMZ tone control. Transistor crazy, but once you have it then it's all smiles.

    Sheepylove Texel

Looks great! I'm glad you enjoy it, all credit goes to Dave. It's easily one of my favourite boosts (if not the number one).

Parentheses Mini - (beware of LM308 type used)

I didn't say anything about that. My comment was a general one about talking to vendors before besmirching their name.

Parentheses Mini - (beware of LM308 type used)

Pedal part vendors are few and far between, with a challenging business model (lots of suppliers, large inventories, consumers who make building errors). Maybe worth chatting to them before shit-slinging.

    Okta apps validation

Why someone would come her for help with identity management is beyond me. Regardless, SPA should be capitalised because it's an acronym. You're best off talking to the Okta dev forum instead of trying to talk auth tokens here. Have fun. Identity is a mind fuck until you get it.

    Bring out yer Diptrace

I seriously don't have time for this stuff right now :( That said, I made these for the backlog. Anyone guess what I'm trying to do?
