This Week on the Breadboard: Super 65 - cb mods

Certainly looks weird and interesting... Mostly interesting for the fact that I haven't seen this many clipping diodes in a "FET-based" dirt pedal yet. Then again, I'm not usually a big fan of cascaded FET based pedals for anything between light grit and saggy high gain stoner/doom stuff so...

This Week on the Breadboard: Super 65 - cb mods

So it's basically a Peppermill with a tonestack between the 2 stages... I'd actually be tempted to take this even further by fixing the input stage at just high enough gain to offset the volume suckage of the tonestack, then add another adjustable gain FET stage to drive the last JFET.

    GODCITY instruments MT2 not right.

I'm sorry, but these are the blurriest pictures ever. Please take better ones.

    Maleficent Mids low headroom

I don't think it's your amp that goes into overdrive. EDIT: Also saw a guy on Facebook simulate why the hell C102 is there and apparently all it does is ADD noise.

Definitive bass-cut mod for the Boss OD-3?

Those curves can be deceiving though. In my experience what LOOKS flat can in fact sound or feel scooped, especially with distortion involved. Plus those curves only show you the final frequency response. A pedal could have the same signature with high bass early in the circuit that is cut later...

Need to Experiment: Circuit Suggestions for NPN-heavy things to breadboard

You mean the FZ-2, only some few heathens clone the BD-2 with ICs because quite honestly, TL072 op amp clipping without diodes sounds atrocious most of the time.

Love that it has a TUBE control I mean how can you not love it?

DEMO Parthenon Drive (Wampler Pantheon) Demo Added

Any schematic for that one? I ended up with my own BB variant too, but that ended up with so much stuff changed, that I barely consider it a BB "variant" anymore.

DEMO Parthenon Drive (Wampler Pantheon) Demo Added

I like my low gain pedals to be low gain, not a bad approximation of a high gain pedal. ;) On the Ratsbane Wampler for some reason also added an even higher gain switch and I just can't see why, the rat is stupid high gain by design already. Idk what Wampler's obsession is with making low...

DEMO Parthenon Drive (Wampler Pantheon) Demo Added

That's interesting, by all means the Pantheon SHOULD be less bright and fizzy than the KoT and actually was on my own builds. But anyway, great demo and use whatever floats your boat! The reason I got rid of the Pantheon was because I'm just not THAT into the KoT sound after all, having gone...

    Super Stevie Radio

Usually happens if the enclosure is not grounded properly but it may also have to do with other equipment of your buddy.

Sherwood Drive Mockup Pedal (Revised) - Available Now!

Honestly, it wouldn't be the first time EQD fucked something up on their production line. The first run of Erupters allegedly had the pickup simulator wired in a way where it wouldn't really act as pickup simulator, so what you got was a buffered Fuzz Face. The Monarch, when looking over Chuck's...

DEMO Parthenon Drive (Wampler Pantheon) Demo Added

Not trying to say you don't know what you're doing and the Pantheon definitely CAN sound fizzy, but unless you put on the high gain modes or turn up the presence knob, it's certainly nicer than what I could get out of the KoT.

DEMO Parthenon Drive (Wampler Pantheon) Demo Added

Funny you find this fizzy but not the Paragon/KoT... The trick is to keep the presence low. I personally found it a whole lot less sterile and way more versatile than the KoT, even without using anything but the soft clipping and low gain modes.

Definitive bass-cut mod for the Boss OD-3?

TBH, C33 and R51 (C7 and R13 in the Aion Heliodor) set the gain highpass filter cutoff at 720Hz, which I doubt would cause excessive low end but you can try for sure. As the OD-3 has a couple of odd passive filters and other elements that aren't that common, there's definite room for...

    Boosters and SS amps

Let me hit you with the good old "it depends". If the boost is designed to be "clean" and "full range", they will mostly make things louder. If they are meant to impart a specific EQ curve, they will have different effects depending on where you place them in the signal chain. Some boosters...

Radio Pickup on a Black Ash Clone?

Usually an issue if there's a grounding issue, e.g. the enclosure is not grounded.

    Boss FZ-2 clones?

To be exact, those transistors make up a "discrete op amp". I guess just using a dual op amp IC for the input buffer and input boost/gain stage instead of 4 transistors + 3 extra resistors and an extra cap was probably an "economic" decision on Robert's part to make it fit on a single 125B size...

    HM-3 Hyper metal?

Honestly just buy it, maybe try lowballing the seller. If you like it, you can still build the PCB and sell the original, if not you could at least figure out what you dislike about it and potentially mod/change it or just not build it at all.
