    Desolders

I bought the hakko and it is awesome. Can you buy different tips for the one you bought? Perhaps there is a smaller or needle nose style tip available?

    Something like the Carbon Copy

Definitely interested to hear how the SMD CD2399s work out for you. I wonder if they’ll be more consistent than the through hole ICs?

    EIA96 Resistor Code Calculator

Nice! Looks good, and does the trick. I think the only thing I’d add is a clear button. I only tried it on mobile, so I don’t know if the experience is any different on desktop, but I couldn’t get it to clear out without refreshing the page. Edit: I just realized you can just start typing...

    sunflower fuzz

+1 to this. I usually just buy all my electrolytic in bulk at 50v. They’re usually still small enough for pretty much every application at that rating and work for everything except the occasional high voltage application in a tube pedal, and I buy those separately for any tube project I’m doing.

    Clean enclosures?

Tayda and LoveMySwitches are both good but I really like the pro enclosures from StompBoxParts. They come brushed and ready to be painted. They also look great as bare enclosures with little to no additional work.

    Are these pedals worth it?!?

I have the Julianna and it’s cool for sure. The drift function and random wave are definitely cool for that lofi thing, but it can also do the classic 80s chorus sound and a decent vibrato. It’s a good jack of all trades chorus/vibrato but I’d call it a master of none. It has left my board in...

    searching for components

Based on this post from another thread I think maybe part of the problem may be some simple misunderstandings. For capacitors, the voltage rating just has to be higher than the amount of voltage that will flow through it, plus maybe a little buffer for good measure. If there is an electrolytic...

    Electrovibe mini current draw

My electrovibe tops out at about 90mA at peak bulb brightness. Current draw fluctuates with the bulb. I haven’t yet built the mini but it should be the same!

That’s way frustrating but I’m glad you got it figured out! Sometimes it’s worth it to spring for Kester solder!

Foxey Fuzz (Tone Bender MKI.5 on stripboard)

Ooh I like the fake out with the volume. Sounds great and that clean up is amazing! And as always, an astoundingly beautiful build. Good stuff!

    film capacitors

Where are you located and where have you tried to source them from? I find film caps to be pretty straight forward to find. Absolutely everything is on Mouser and Tayda’s selection is also very good. Though if you’re looking for WIMAs or other name brands you’ll only be able to get some of them...

Antithesis and Muroidea with order switcher squeals like crazy.

Hard to tell for sure in the picture but it does look like there is powder coat on the inside of the enclosure. Are you sure at least one of your 1/4” jacks has a solid ground connection to the enclosure? If you haven’t already, I’d recommend sanding down to bear enclosure around the jack holes...

SOLVED unicab aka the sizzling kettle

Ah I see you said you’ve tried power supply. Have you tried putting a buffered pedal before it? Sometimes that can fix issues as well.

SOLVED unicab aka the sizzling kettle

But in all seriousness. What are you using to power it? Power supplies are very often the culprit of noises like that. Does the pedal work at all if you play into it? Or does it just give those screechy noises and nothing else? Also, I can’t tell for certain, but the output jack does have a...
