    Blues Breaker style

I’m looking at the various blues breaker inspired circuits, and I’m confused, the inverting I/P (pin 2) on the IC is sometimes, via a resistor and capacitor, referencing ground and other times Vref. Referenced to ground on: Parthenon Paragon Overdrive And the Vref on Blue Breaker Glory...

    Super Stevie Overdrive Diode

If you've ever seen the schematic for the JanRay you'll see the 1N4148 used in that in the same place... It's a bit like the second 100n cap in power supply section. I'm not saying anything ;)

    Bass Pedals

Thanks Soothsayer86, I have already built the Abyss, but never thought of it for bass, so that’s good and your positive comments on the Obsidius have put that to the top of the list. I wonder if there will be ‘Vintage OD’ from the same family in due course?

    Bass Pedals

Hello, I'm beginning to get the itch to play some bass guitar and was wondering if anyone could recommend any pedal builds, I've only discovered the Obsidius Preamp so far. It would be great if there were a bass category on the left hand side.

    Tube Driver v1.3 build

Hi Joe, thanks for posting, I don't know if you have also made either the MOSFET driver or the Cattle Driver as I'd be very interested to see how they compare. I used to have a BK Butler Tube Driver, alas sold it years ago, and had it at a time when as a player and with the amp I had I never...

    Paragon (KoT)

Well I feel stupid, I thought I'd read every page of that thread over a number of evenings this last week, yet some how managed to miss that section! Thanks for the link.

    Paragon (KoT)

I've been considering one of these and had just started researching clipping diode options, knowing the originals were not going to be available, then pretty much settled on trying the standard 1N4148, but you have piqued my interest with the idea of using MSPA18's, and would be grateful to know...

    MOSFET Driver & Cattle Driver

Thanks PedalPCB, I've built the Cattle Driver, and think it's great, just wondering how the MOSFET driver compares. The Tube Driver has a high output impedance, which is not ideal and I'm assuming the MOSFET Driver would too, so would it be prudent to put a K style buffer on the output? Also...

    MOSFET Driver & Cattle Driver

Hello, has anyone built both the MOSFET Driver and the Cattle Driver and compared the two? Also, is the MOSFET Driver PedalPCB's own development of the Tube Driver? Not that I'm going through a Pink Floyd phase at the moment ;)

    Muddy Corduroy

I came across this the other day: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/wampler-velvet-love-it-or-leave-it.1489711/page-2 Post 29

Angry Andy Plus Boost pot scratchy

I'll need to look at the schematic again, but is the boost pot biasing the BS170 like the Box of Rock 1st stage? If so the crackle is normal.

    JFETS, matching etc.

I've just pulled a MMBFJ201 out of it's plastic tray and I get the following test results: [email protected]

    JFETS, matching etc.

Thanks for the clarification on the Mu-Follower Chuck D. Bones, that's good to know. Guilty as charged, didn't even think about it when putting together my 'Depths' I guess the inverse square law of light would also have an effect if the LDRs are not absolutely the same distance from the LED...

    JFETS, matching etc.

There are a number of projects here that require JFETS, my electronics knowledge is still in the painting by numbers phase with the odd glimmer of dawning realisation, that I'd hesitate to describe as understanding! So please humour me if I ask a few, probably, dumb questions about JFETS First...

Future of the J201 - Moving forward

Thanks Chuck D. Bones, I feel I'm pulling this thread off topic so will start a new thread regarding JFETS.

Future of the J201 - Moving forward

Sorry, I completely missed your post Nostradoomus, I have a similar device This is the results I get for a MMBF5458... Now I need to go a learn what it's telling me! A quick look at the data sheet and I'm none the wiser :( (The JFET was pushed down onto the pads to get the reading)

Future of the J201 - Moving forward

It only dawned on me recently that different makes have different product codes for the SMD J201: On semiconductor: MMBFJ201 InterFet: SMPJ201 Vishay: SST201 Maybe we could have a list? I've been waiting two months for MMBFJ201's to be available in the UK, if I'd twigged earlier that the...

Is it, damn, I already had some 2N5457s and just got 50 J201s!

Future of the J201 - Moving forward

Regarding SOT23 testing, I've just discovered Peak do an adapter: https://www.peakelec.co.uk/acatalog/pca23-peak-component-adapter-sot23.html#SID=27 I wonder if the clip is generally available and could be built into a JFET matching board?

Future of the J201 - Moving forward

I came to the party too late to stock up on through hole FETs, and so avoided all FET projects until recently when I discovered SDM soldering isn't as bad as I feared, so I'm all for SMD FETS now. Would it be possible to design a utility board to test SMD JFETs for matching purposes?
