    Fuzz War V1 Question (Transister-related)…

    Need some laptop/desktop help

You can get a nicely-spec'd, previous-gen macbook air on amazon for about $500 which based on your use-case (basic graphic design? PCB layout in CAD?) will be more computer than you'll ever need.

    Bellum Fuzz MkI

@Robert just curious if you'd had a chance to poke around inside this one yet? VERY CURIOUS

    Discrete Opamps from Orange

'Discrete' means that it's put together out of individual components rather than a 'monolithic' op-amp, which is one of the little black boxes. ie, a monolithic TL071 has a couple dozen resistors, transistors, diodes, caps, FETs packed inside of it; ostensibly a discrete opamp gives you control...

DEMO EQUILUX BUILD. Yes yes yes.

The separate cut/boost controls on each band is a pretty classic aspect of the Pultec EQs. Boosting and cutting the same frequencies doesn't end up being a net-zero, the frequencies aren't exactly the same nor is the Q. So you get interesting interactions in a particular area, which is part of...

I'm looking to make a pedal that is both a booster and buffer. (suggestions needed)

Are you looking for a clean boost with a relatively high input impedance or are you looking for an always-on buffer with a switchable boost or is the whole thing going to be always on? How much volume boost do you need?

“Innie” style dc jack with nut on outside

Why not just put a few washers on the tayda one so the nut sits flush with the end of the jack?

    Identify this circuit?

Going to take a wild guess and say that someone re-used an enclosure that had a slow gear clone in it.

    Identify this circuit?

    There's no way that's a slow gear.

Parentheses Fuzz: Popping when Distortion or Boost engaged

If using the same amp consistently, check for DC leak coming from the amp? Something with the power supply in your house? LED lights/dimmers on the same circuit? Too close to a computer monitor?

    Flux causing irritated/peeling skin??

I'm not sure exactly what the recipe is for the flux in flux-core solder wire, but suffice to say it is at best pretty toxic and at worst super duper toxic. Boric acid (aka borax) is a very common one for low-temp silver brazing, short term side effects are pretty common ('foundry flu' or 'flux...

    Elka Dizzy Tone (gnat)

Just curious - when you were noticing changes to the sound of the pedal with differerent diodes, were you checking to see the changes in voltages?

    SOLVED Dizzy gnat

I'm not sure what mods you've made from stock, but in my experience hfe and leakage aren't particularly important in tone bender MKIII/IV variants. It's the sound of one amp stage slamming into another, and the distortion comes from Q3 being (and this is a technical term) "blown the hell up."...

Putting some germanium transistors to use

Tone Bender MKIII/IV are probably one of the most forgiving vintage Ge circuits and (imo) the best sounding tone bender.
