ugh my XC sounds awful, i got matched ones from lectric-fx which i'm sure are fine, but however i've put the thing together it ticks and doesnt phase well.

Could it be the socketed transistors maybe? I was cheap and didn't buy the to18 sockets, so i used individual single socket headers instead; i can see that being less than ideal for noise. after going back and playing my Life build, i'm starting to think these are just ultra gain noisy pedals...

thanks Robert!!! this is exactly the answer i needed. i saw that one switch was set up differently and was wondering how that was working, nice workaround! i remember seeing that diode setup, this makes so much more sense now! excited to mess around with programming my own algorithms.

awesome! i meant to the left of Q5 on the board, but looking at the board and schematic again, i think it would've been a reasonable assumption that those were the correct two diodes to swap. socketing them anyway! thanks!

I have a few questions before I keep going with this one, they're all relatively simple. 1. Looking at the build docs, it's D2 and D5 that are swapped out but then C16 is left blank (I assume unpopulated means no jumper either). C16 is in the first feedback loop; should C19 be left blank...

well done, this is the type of tricky little problem to track down that is the most frustrating. I think I might be having similar input noise issues with my super Heterodyne Receiver, I'm going to try shielded wire too.
