This Week on the Breadboard: The Tush OD

The Bass knob is interesting in this one. The circuit almost becomes a fuzz when the bass is maxed. I'm almost tempted to try a B taper for the bass control. But that's only almost. So far I've tried an OP275, a TL072, LM4558N, TLC272 and an NE5534. The OP275 is to me a little too "hi-fi" or...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Tush OD

I just built a Tush with a Szukalski board and yup - Fab. As I suspected yours is a smoother, slicker version than mine. I might steal a few values of yours and keep experimenting. But the Tush is just killer. And, I think, a definite improvement on what was already a pretty good circuit. I...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

Is that even a serious question?? 😂 The tariff "plan" is not just ignorant and incompetent it's also incredibly lazy. It's just tariffs. No investment, no working strategically with industry. No consultation with anyone outside in the real world. No research, study, analysis. No actual...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

MXR Phase 90 (Sheepy Love) - redux

I think if you have been through cancer you're allowed to blame it for trifling stuff like this! What sort of hot plate did you use for the SMDs? I'm thinking I'll have to work out a way to use SMD transistors because it's getting difficult to find through-hole JFETs. I still have a load of...

    Chop Shop

I've been called anal on this forum for my wiring by many - even myself. But you take clinical to the next level. Love the riveted plate and even the colour of the enclosure too. Have you ever wondered about rotating the out jack 180 degrees so that the ground is next to the in jack's ground...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Golden F**k

I had a feeling that was the case! Thanks for the advice in this thread. I would probably never have built this pedal without it. And now I have a great pedal to mess around with.

This Week on the Breadboard: The Golden F**k

I finally got around to building this! Now that I have built an IDSS tester I felt confident to try it - that and my successful build of a Diablo. And now, after a brief test, I can see why this is a PPCB fave. I made a couple of mods according to the teachings of the Church Of Chuck and it...

Dirtbox Layouts posting a lot of Boneyard vero layouts

They seem to have got tired of it all recently! They're a bit, um, eccentric. Serious attitude there.

I am thinking of building this but the through-hole JFETs you mention are hard to get here. One place has suggested subbing BF256B JFETs because they have them in stock. I don't have a clue if they would work or not. Do you have any experience with the BF256B?

    Southern Belle + Seabed Delay

I am a lover of both bass and treble controls, but in the case of the Red Llama I much prefer the version without the tone control. It doesn't really need it and the tone control takes away something IMO. But you have just made me wonder about a Red Llama with a bass control... Hmm...

    Random pix

That's it! We went the two nights in a row it was that good. I had an old fashioned variation called a Diesel. It was possibly the most aggressive flavoured old fashioned I have had - it was my kinda cocktail. Kufstein is kinda halfway between Innsbruck and Salzburg, and it's close enough that...

I my art class we had a furnace so that we could cast aluminium. So you would carve a piece out of polystyrene foam, add sprues, pack it in sand and cast it in aluminium. I never did get around to trying it. But I did have a painting exhibited in town and received a certificate signed by Syd...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Tush OD

"Bottom line, opamps should be auditioned for this circuit, even opamps of the same part number" As I found out! I often build two of any pedal I think friends will like to try, so built two of my version (which isn't all that different from Chuck's) and found they didn't sound the same. I...
