    Violet Oscillation

    I would suggest trying a Big Muff of some sort or a Pandora's Box set to the "forbidden" mode. Experiment with some delay and/or reverb. There are loads of great fuzz pedals out there.

    Chupacabra - Red Llama or no?

    I think Josh's "problem" is that he comes across as a bit smug. I don't really mind him. But I don't really find his pedals very compelling either. Pretty sure Mythos is a one-guy operation. I don't think he's much of a pedal designer - his pedals are super derivative to the point where the...

    New and improved circuit, any criticism appreciated

    What kind of sound are you aiming for?

    Arche Boost x2 (clean and dirty)

    I'm looking at my schematic now, comparing it with the EP Boost... Not sure how easy my version would be to build on the PCB. I did away with all the switches and the charge pump. Added a bass control between the transistors - possibly could be done but it would be a mess!

    Arche Boost x2 (clean and dirty)

    I like the idea of the Arche boost - two knobs; bass and level. Once you have tamed the highs they work well. I ended up modding the Xotic EP Boost circuit to have just those two controls - it's a simpler circuit and I like the sound even more. :)

    Mod Question Golden Falk

    In an actual Marshall amp the first way to cut low end is via the first stage cathode bypass cap. In a 1959 Super Lead the normal channel is biased cool with an 820R cathode resistor and a 330µA bypass cap, and the lead channel is biased hot with a 2K7 cathode resistor and a .68µF bypass cap...

    Modus Operandi Boost (Jackson Audio Amp Mode)

    If it's based on a SHO then they have done a good job. I like this boost and really don't like the SHO!

    This week on the Breadboard: The Emerald Green Overdrive

    I wonder why Bjørn decided we needed a treble boost at one end of the Voice knob? We already have a Treble control. Could we make Voice into a straight Bass control and make Treble work better? Could we just keep the extra brightness of Voice on full and just use the Treble control for, well...

    This week on the Breadboard: The Emerald Green Overdrive

    Well whaddaya know?? I stuck a 2N1308 in Q2 and now it all makes sense! It sounds really good. I steer away from them because I have such rotten luck with them usually. I think it's done. Cheers!

    This week on the Breadboard: The Emerald Green Overdrive

    I have 5.74V on the collector of Q2. The treble control needs to be quite high to sound good. It's not a bright sounding circuit as it is. It has plenty of mids which is fine and decent low end. With the A50K Voice pot all the low end was right at the bottom of rotation CCW - I wired it stock...

    This week on the Breadboard: The Emerald Green Overdrive

    Just revisiting this one because a friend has asked about a "dirty boost with a Voxy kinda chime". It's been a while and I didn't have one handy so I drew up a new Vero layout. I tried a few MP38s in Q2 but they all seemed a bit too woolly sounding, compressed and not very inspiring. My friend...

    Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

    I will never understand that. Why does anyone need a billion dollars? Think of all the good you could do with that money. How much shit can you consume?

    Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

    It's just so lazy. Tariffs will NOT bring back manufacturing to the US if that's all you do. As well as tariffs you need to help prospective manufacturers with guarantees and probably tax incentives. You need to do your own research into what prospective manufacturers need to spend their money...

    Sheepy Love "The Grift" (Vemuram Jan Ray)

    Mr Szukalski is good people even if he does like sheep perhaps a bit too much. And I doubt anyone here is going to complain about another build report from you. Your comments on the sound of the Jan Ray are interesting. I love hearing different takes on circuits. I'm a fan of the Timmy - not...

    Tommy caps alternative values

    Using those values will theoretically mean a tiny bit more midrange and a tiny bit more low end when bass is maxed. In practise, as others have said, it will be difficult to hear a difference. I would use what you have without hesitation.

    Looks more like a rosé. Your wiring shows promise. :LOL:

    This Week on the Breadboard: The ChuckMeister Distortion

    I have indeed built Chuck's version, but with a pair of 1N4148s - no Ge diodes. It's a great sound! It's very different from mine and worth its own build IMO. In fact I suspect a lot of players would prefer it. I'm often dubious about the value of mids pots though. Chuck's mid pot works well...

    DMD-2 -> Magnetron Echo

    I used to be way into delay. Over the past few years I've used it less and less and just used a hint of reverb with my many overdrives. But I still love a good delay. For a long time it was slapback delay I was using as I was in a rockabilly band. And my 6120 still seems a bit naked without a...

    DMD-2 -> Magnetron Echo

    I LOVE the UA Starlight Delay. Not cheap but damn it sounds good. It does pristine like no other, and also fantastic Deluxe Memory Man sounds without noise. I like it much more than the Strymons I've had. Plus I can easily switch between two different sounds. I like the layout of your pedal. I...
