Can’t see the wiring, but verify the wiring to the input/output jacks is correct. Also solder joints on a couple of pins on the FV1 look a bit cold from the pic (could also be optical illusion)

Just a thought. If buffering the input helps, it’s telling that the noise is definitely picking up noise on the input wires— buffering is likely changing the impedance or boosting it enough that the signal is more immune to the clock noise.

If it’s touching the board it could be picking up the oscillator (the tl072 very top left looking at that pic). As someone else mentioned, if you have any tl022, you could try one of those in that spot.

Good catch! Shielded wire with no ground connection to shield is called an antenna! Exactly how to do it. Just remember you only connect the shield at 1 end (unlike guitar cables where it’s attached at both ends)

I upgraded to one this year as well. Very nice setup! Prior to getting this (and my Weller W60p 20 years ago), I would burn through 2-3 cheap irons yearly doing my amp work.
