Thoughts on attenuation built into amps?

A good attentuator made for the purpose will be a much better solution and scalable past 25W. And if you have more than one amp, you can just move it around, I see it as a bonus. I am using a Two Notes Torpedo Captor 8 which I paid like 100€ and I wouldn't be happier with it really. Eats up my...

Hah cool, thanks so! And glad you are back on your feet!

DEMO GOTA800-Hot Rodded JCM800 amp Build

That looks really cool! And it's always a good feeling when you have a great sounding guitar, a great sounding amp, and make those 1+1 = 3. As I'm in the midst of going through the same process (albeit not a JCM800 base), I have a question or two: Is that a heatsink for a LM317 for...

    Anyone using Circuitlab?

For some reason, I work much faster in circuit lab than in LT. Sure, it's less "complete" but to simulate the fairly straight forward signal of pedals it's fine. Also full bridge rectifiers seem to be simulated much better in Circuit Labs than in LT spice for some reason? I haven't done the...

    Sanding down spray paint crackle/bubbles?

Sir. I don't have the funds for 2 kids, WH, pedal + guitar + amp building and a credit. My dick won so I went for kids instead of WH. Probably saved money there, not sanity though.

    Sanding down spray paint crackle/bubbles?

I agree with this. And if you are half decent with a paintbrush, make it a feature - drybrush a metalic silver on top for highlights and it might just be a kickass look. Look up "WH mini painting tutorials" on youtube, there is a lot of info on how to make texture and details pop.

    Sanding down spray paint crackle/bubbles?

From what it looks like you probably sprayed too heavy and too close. Sand down to smoothness with 220, clean it, dry it, and paint again. Make sure both can and box are at room temperature at least - a good trick is to put the can in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes before starting to...

    Bulk knobs

I had good luck on Aliexpress really, but their search engine is wierd at best. I usually find a piece I like and then go through their “more like:” wheel of death and end up with a couple more.

    Aluminum build-up on drills

I just keep an old file cleaning brush next to the drill and voila, done. Won’t damage anything, cheap, and no solvent or oil residue. Considering how soft aluminium is there is no need for anything else imo.

    Anyone using Circuitlab?

If it has pots it’s already an improvement. But then how do you export the circuit to produce a pcb? Any convenient way or do you have to redraw everything? Also, are there enough OPamps and diode models? Cheers for taking one for the team ;)

    Protoboard - Base

The answer is always a laser cut piece of acrylic with LEDs built in. ALWAYS.

    AionFx Blaze (Amptweaker TightDrive)

Heh thanks. Funny enough that you bump this, I was trying to use it again and decided to instead accept that it's not for me as it is. Currently toying around in LTSplice with the schematic, end goal is to make it a bit less sizzly, a tad more mid-mid and not so high-mid and have a more usable...

    Peavey PA-horn gorn kaputski

Rusty connections have a way to work in one position, get fiddled with and stop working until you nudge them again. I would give this a shot first really (at least before the tequila shot). The other problem with rust is the swelling with can make physical contacts unstable.

    Peavey PA-horn gorn kaputski

I think the final part of your post explains a lot. There seems to be continuity issues unrelated to the speaker 😂 More seriously, looks like changing all the rusted parts would do some good? Looks more rusty than a USSR charter boat. Good luck tackling it a gin. I have whiskey good luck...

Rosamp SLO 30 build diary: a noob perspective

Thanks a lot! Next builda for me are a few more boost pedals (Bad Monkey clone, ODS clone) possibly a noise gate, couple of reverb and delays... But mostly will try to get nice wood for a third guitar build. I have a piezzo Schaller Hannes 7 String waiting for me to make up my mind on wood...

Rosamp SLO 30 build diary: a noob perspective

So yesterday evening, I completed the build by adding some support plates inside for the front and back grills and painted everything. I am very happy with the results! Amp now officially done, a great experience, can recommend, five stars, etc. Happy to say I did everything myself start to...

Rosamp SLO 30 build diary: a noob perspective

Well well well... Got busy today. Took my time to follow Rob Robinette's recommended startup procedure with my current limiter and new multimeter. Happy to report it went very well! It even fits great into the housing I made. Even my pedal to switch channels works (!). I have to say I am...
