    Wampler KiCad course

So I will say I requested a refund on Saturday. I got an email from Brian this morning and it’s already refunded with no issues. He appreciated the feedback I gave. I gave lots of details and where I thought it could use improvement. I will try other courses simply because of this. As I have...

    Wampler KiCad course

So I wanted to share my thoughts on the Wampler KiCad course. It is awful!! It is such a hot mess I stopped halfway through and requested a refund. That is not something I have ever done. I know how to use KiCad pretty well but like most if not all of us I am self taught. I was hoping to find...

    Selling pedals - final prep?

Prickly makes a good point on a warranty situation. It makes them feel better knowing you’re not selling junk and gives you a selling point. That being said normal wear and tear and plugging in incorrect power supplies etc… may be a slippery slope and it shouldn’t last for an unreasonable...

    Selling pedals - final prep?

Honestly just treat it like its your pedal. You can’t control if a part fails. Do your best to test it and make sure it functions like it should in all settings. Thread lock on jacks and power jacks aren't a bad idea but aren’t necessary. I wouldn’t over think it. You can’t control how people...

    What's your nemesis circuit?

Mine is the DMM. I have built several successfully but for everyone i do i mess up at least 2. They all pass signal but delay doesn't work. Definitely my nemesis. Positive ground always messes me up too.

    SPST Footswitch Guidance

Not exactly what you are looking for but I use these for a cost effective switch and I have never had one fail. At roughly $1.60 each they are hard to beat...

    SOLVED Caesar Chorus No Output

Start by reflowing the circled areas. These are just a handful of rough joints at a glance. The one on the footswitch is the circuit input. That could be the real issue. It wouldn't affect bypass only the circuit when engaged.

    REQUEST Power I/O Module Template

Make sure you see the tips above for the 9v jack soldering. You don’t want to solder it before you put it in the box. Sometimes the 9v legs are a little twisted.

    REQUEST Power I/O Module Template

It surely is. Enjoy! I use it for all 125b builds. It’s really nice and clean.

What's your thoughts on Brian Wampler's new Video Courses?

So i broke down and bought the beginner course on cyber monday. It was 40% off. I am a visual learner and thought i would give it a shot. I am not a beginner but i am no expert either. I have done some breadboarding in the past but not much. I did a lot of tagboard stuff when i first started. I...

Nice PCB design tutorials from Phil's Lab

Very cool. I am sure it’s a lot easier than learning the hodgepodge way i did, lol. It’s a great program. I may watch them just to see if i can learn something i haven't figured out already. The kicad documentation reads like an 80s stereo manual. Thanks for posting this. Also if you are going...

    Soundbrenner Pulse

Anyone tried one of these? Seems like a good idea and my timing could always be improved. The metronome click gets to me after a few mins. https://www.soundbrenner.com/pages/pulse

Spin FV-1 Development board requires skinny caps?

I always use the mlcc caps. The ones @Erik S mentioned will be fine. Its always good to have some extra 1u mlcc caps for hard to fit spaces so order extra. I think all of the fv-1 projects use them so if you plan on doing anymore go ahead and stock up. Especially at the price. These from mouser...

    Dead End FX Mangel Wurzel

I really like the chorus. It sounds great. I did the bbs so it wouldn't be as tight. I also used nylon screws and nuts from tayda to put mine together. It worked well enough.

    Deadendfx Inchdown Redux

If finished up the inchdown redux this morning. First let me say the delay portion is great. I love the circuit. It’s a nice digital delay that doesn’t sound like a digital delay. The box for this is huge. I am not a fan. You have to actually drilll it because tayda won’t. I had higher...

Deadendfx inchdown redux 1uf non polar?

I can strongly recommend the Elysium. I might even go so far as to say it’s my favorite digital delay. It sounds closer to a BBD delay than any other digital I have built. It’s easy to calibrate too. Especially if your dmm has a frequency counter. The artifacts seem more realistic than a...

Deadendfx inchdown redux 1uf non polar?

They still have it. Its under modulation instead of delay. I am building it because i love the Aionfx version. This is the same thing but adds two extra knobs for modulation. Its got a big bar to hit if its going to be as good as the Elysium. It’s one of the few digital delays that doesn't sound...

Deadendfx inchdown redux 1uf non polar?

Good call. I didn't even think about using that for reference. In all fairness i was going to try it anyway. I just wanted someone else to say it was okay, lol.
