Tactical Fuzz - Not Cleaning Up, Trim Pot Issue?

I am not sure you are testing at the right points for the trim voltage. You need to measure between Collector and ground for 4.5 volts.

    Tube dampener rings

I have an old Roland Bolt 30 amp with very special (aka rare aka expensive) RCA 7591A output tubes. These are 6L6 with a different pinout. These boogers started to rattle. I bought 4 rings and use 2 on every output tube. Works for me! ( Okay, okay i could rewire the tube sockets and buy a set of...

    Secret Preamp (effectslayout)

Why are the in- and output on the breakout board on the wrong side. You always have to cross wires.

Dragons Breath Boost (Catalinbread Naga Viper)

I socketed the 3.3n and the 68n caps. I tried the Analogman Beano Boost values which are 5.6n up to 22nF. This concentrates the Range more in the mids. Maybe i try another cap over the output to smooth it out. I think the silicone tranny makes it a bit raspier than the Ge of the Beano Boost.

    Canis Distortion vs. Candid Drive

I was shocked when i looked at the Canis (I was a wolf in the Forest). Its quite identical to the wellknown Barber Direct Drives (Candid Drive). Did anybody check them out side by side? I only see additional hard clipping diodes on the Candid. My plan now is to try some hardclippers on the Canis...

Discovered my red clear led are reversed

I had the same issue with blue colored led when i used the shorter wire as cathode. I did not solder it, because i had to check the length out of the box first. The advantage of the clear led is that can check the size of the plates for a double check.

Phat-O-Caster mod: re-voicing Strat bridge pickup for a passive boost

Great write-up on the mod, Michael. The cap part is also known as the De-mud Mod and was used on 4 conductor humbucker in the neck of a Les Paul. Most folks used a handy .047 from a strat or a .022 uF cap from the existing stock circuit, but could not use the neck tone pot after that. Most folks...
