I choose Tayda over Amazon any day. I've only had 1 problem with one of them from Tayda years ago and they made good on it and gave me a full refund for it.
If both transistors are powered/biased simultaneously, then the pop should be minimal since there is no "powering up" time. You may need to tweak the biasing. Switching between transistors IMO is for auditioning parts unless the resulting sounds are very different. That's the breadboarder in me...
This one i'm definitely keeping since I sacrificed blood, sweat, and tears. That and it's a friggin great circuit!
I still need to pull the trigger on selling a number of my builds I don't use anymore. I can always make em again!
and it's his thumb too!
For a good month after the accident I never said "yes" to the wife. I only gave her a thumbs up on my bad hand. She hated it after the 3rd time I did it.
Thanks. My wife asked me how this could have been prevented. I told her about a push block. She was pissed when I told her they weren't expensive (we were sitting in the emergency room at the time).
This is probably one of the most expensive and longest builds I've ever done. Keep reading and you'll see why. It's a little graphic. You've been warned...
Huge shout out to @steviejr92 for the PCB and enclosure.
Around fall time of last year I had an itch to build something that was more in...
If i remember correctly, I don't think you're supposed to have any voltage at the gate or the JFETS. The backside of your board needs some cleanup. Use some isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush to clean off all the flux. Be careful no to get any inside your pots. Then post updated pictures. It was...
There are a few threads here of people measuring for top mounted jacks on a 1590b. If I remember correctly, Madbean also has some drill templates.
Also, there are some PPCB boards that you can squeeze into a 1590b. Some of them you'll need to offboard wire the pots.
Pre-gain, at least in the sense of an input voltage divider, has only 2 settings for me: wide open or a “sweet spot” where I set it and forget it. Personally, I’d go with a switch.
Update: Through my research I decided to pull the trigger on this bluetooth with amplifier and run it on a separate 9v supply. I chose ebay because f&#% Jeff Bezos. Works pretty nicely with my bench supply and isn't too quiet running on 9V. I got a 9V 5A power supply that pretty much looks like...
