    Filtering out lower strings...

Yeah, Rob at Gemini Pickups hooked me up. His work is awesome and really reasonably priced. I originally asked him about building a two-string pickup. I was going to route out the the body and put in a second output jack. But his suggestion worked really well! Whoa. That sounds rad as hell. ...

    Filtering out lower strings...

(Yet another) weird question... So... working with a pickup guy, I did a weird thing with my baritone guitar where I had him respin a humbucker so one tiny coil outputs two strings separately so I can run it to a pitchshifter and output that to a bass amp. I have a stereo jack in my guitar...

    Buffered vs. Passive Splitter?

Awesome. Many thanks to you sir.

    Buffered vs. Passive Splitter?

That's what I was afraid of. :cautious: Maybe the only choice is to try a buffer and see how various fuzzes and distortions like it? BTW, anyone have a quick and dirty explanation of why some fuzzes sound crappy with a buffer in front of them?

    Fuzz face modifications

I know some folks have issues with Josh Scott, but this video was cool and informative:

    Buffered vs. Passive Splitter?

Hey all, I'm building a pedal board and I need to split my guitar signal (twice!) I think the best place to do the first split is immediately after the guitar (or at least after the tuner.) One of the signals will immediately go to a fuzz most of the time, and I hear many fuzzes don't like...

So, are there, like, six distortion pedals in the world?

I feel like every time I look at a new distortion/fuzz/overdrive, I'm always hearing "it's a Rat clone" or "it's based on the Tube Screamer." (especially the TS.) And I get that different parts and power and configurations can radically change the sound and feel of any given pedal, but I still...

    Mid Hump Pedal alternatives?

Nice, thanks! Yeah thinking about it, I'm basically wanting a full-on wall-of-mud tone some of the time, and then (slightly) more articulation at other times. Cool, a lot to think about!

    Mid Hump Pedal alternatives?

Excellent points, the Dirty Sanchez does look interesting! Thanks! I used to own a graphic eq, but not currently. I should pick up a GE-7-alike. I could even try jacking up the output to add some crazy to the mid hump. Hmmm... but you've articulated it well. I think besides the mid-hump I'm...

    Mid Hump Pedal alternatives?

Oh right, I was thinking about that too. I guess if I'm going to explore that direction, I should start by cocking a wah in front and behind of some fuzzes, though without control of the Q and resonance it'll probably limit the range too much. Hmmmm...

    Mid Hump Pedal alternatives?

Hey all, I've been thinking about the overdrive-into-fuzz/fuzz-into-overdrive strategy for adding mids to bassy fuzz pedals. (I love wall-of-heavy doom tones in general, but want to give myself some tonal variety options.) It seems like the classic logic is to use a Tube Screamer or a Klon for...

    Fuzz control on the Pacifier?

Since the Punkifier/Pacifier is basically a blend of a full-on fuzz with an overdrive, is there an easy way to throw on an extra pot to control the fuzz?

Troubleshooting my Arkaim Fuzz, Part 1

Hmmm... also, if I accidentally coated my diodes in super glue, then the circuit wouldn't even be reaching them. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/221134/Can+superglue+be+used+instead+of+soldering,+and+would+it+be+safe Maybe I'll try to replace the remaining two first.

    Hidden gem?

My first two builds were the Hylian Fuzz and Panspermia Fuzz. Both are based on Shin-ei clones, but I was surprised that one puts out a wall of bassy noise and the other produces a wall of spitty/staticy noise. The volume/tone pot values are pretty similar so I wanna house them together with...

Troubleshooting my Arkaim Fuzz, Part 1

Ohhhhhh... dammit! Ok, noting that, I just tested it again and the pedal goes silent when engaged and the knobs, "heavy" footswitch, and toggle switch all do nothing.
