There was a time a few years ago where I was frying FV-1 chips like crazy (killed about 5 of them). Never figured out how/why it was happening. Have built other things in the meantime, and bought new FV-1s, but haven't had the guts to try them again since

I appreciate all this talk of the Deflector not being so great, as I somehow fried the FV-1 in my build and never got it fully working (would work for 10 minutes, then die). Makes me not worry so much about what I'm missing

Thanks! I've never approached a cohesive set before and now it makes scoff at my own hodgepodge pedal board. Ha I'd also be lying if I said each set of labels was perfect the first try---there was a lot of rubbing off and starting again (thankfully possible with a layer of clear coat between)

Thanks! Yeah, I sprayed a 2-colour gradient on each of the tops, then used acrylic markers and paint pens for the designs and lettering

They have now been demoed and are off to their new home with a seemingly very happy owner!

Always sucks when a pedal dies. Haven't had anything go wrong when using the proper 9V DC power though. Repeating Robert's questions from above, as they would help clarify what's wrong: Even it the EEPROM died, you'd still have dry signal with the mix turned down, if that's dead too...

Nice. Yeah, this is a pretty common FV-1 mod. I've done it on a few of my builds (depending on your jacks, I've been able to sneak mine just above one of the corner knobs at the top).

If I recall (been a while since I built mine), the internal trimpot is for gain. Might have to take mine off the wall and mess around a bit, as I always liked the arp setting

A quick look and the soldering of the in/out/power wires at the top of the board looks very loose. I would make sure there's enough solder to fill the holes and also double check that nothing is possibly touching each other. In general, you'll want to reflow and ensure all solder joints look...
