    Part sourcing

Not really, unfortunately. I do most of my parts sourcing from Tayda, and they may have everything you need, depending, but I still find I need to stop by StompBoxParts or Mouser on occasion for oddities.

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Yeah, I'd recommend an audio probe if you can put one together. Then you can trace the signal starting from the jack to the switch, to the circuit and start getting an idea of where it dies. In the meantime, as per @Mcknib, good photos of your complete board top and bottom would be helpful to...

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Oh right, sorry! That's good to know. Yeah, some jacks are better than others, but they are all the same principle, so you can choose the ones you prefer as long as they are wired correctly (I change up the jacks depending how much room I have, or what I happen to have in my parts stash). If...

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Yeah, that won't work. With a mono cable you're just grounding the signal (a mono cable only has 2 connections---tip and sleeve). If you are able to switch to tip and sleeve instead you should be able to see if the circuit itself is working. Don't worry, the offboard wiring part of pedals is...

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Here's a diagram I found, just in case. You can see that if you use the ring connection for the input signal that the tip won't connect to it at all (in fact, with a mono cable you'd just be grounding out your signal).

Best value for a single FV-1 effect?

As per your other thread, you can ground pin 13 of the FV-1 to use the internal patches, but the internal patches are nothing special (I don't mind the Tremolo-reverb though). Keep in mind that the first 3 listed also have reverb, so your control over the chorus, flanger and tremolo is limited...

ARACHNID DIED AFTER I TOUCHED SOMETHING...

The stock patches are OK, but nothing special. I've built several FV-1 builds and have included a toggle to revert to stock patches, but never use it. Depends on what you're after in terms of the actual effect though, so whatever works for you!

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Hmm. In my experience you definitely can't just choose whichever pin to use on the jacks. They all have different purposes. A TRS jack has the following: T - Tip, this is the one that connects to the tip of your cable and passes signal through R - Ring, this connects to the middle section of a...

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Ah, okay. That's important information, as it means it could be your offboard wiring and not the Circuit itself. Did you end up finding a way to test which connections to use on the jacks? Also a picture of your switch wiring would help here.

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Have you done the trimpot adjustments? They crucial for this circuit and can take time to get right. One trimpot adjust the BBD chip, which is more about the effected sound, but the other one adjusts the gate and that can take the sound out completely.

Opinions needed on knobs for this pedal

Yeah, same for me. It's rare that I'm drawn to the silver-faced knobs (maybe because they were the defaults for the BYOC kits I started with).

Art vs no art for resale

The art is one of my favourite parts about building. I find it stressful, but rewarding and ties the whole thing together. That said, I don't do a lot of builds for other people and I try not to build for folks who just want a clone for as cheap as possible. Where I'm at these days is if you...

    Son of Ben Preamp

Yeah, I try to build a few things at once when I can too. I still use Tayda for most stuff though, as shipping to Canada gets rough quickly

Nice. Hoping to finish mine soon. Just waiting on parts. What made you build 3 at once?

    Half my J201s are bad?

Hmm. Finally made time to measure my J201s using the info on the ROG site, but my readings seem very off. Vp on most of them seems to be between 1-1.5v and Idss measures 0.100mA to 0.150mA (if I'm doing the adjustments correctly). I've got one that seems fine (within the ranges on the ROG...

ARACHNID DIED AFTER I TOUCHED SOMETHING...

I don't think you need to do anything to the mix pot. Just test it---if you turn it all the way down do you get your dry signal at all? That would tell you if that section of the circuit is working. The FV-1 has internal programs (a few reverbs, etc.) that don't require an EEPROM to access...

ARACHNID DIED AFTER I TOUCHED SOMETHING...

Yeah, as @PJS said, I'd try grounding pin 13 of the FV-1 to see if the internal programs work. They don't require an EEPROM at all, so if you get an effected signal with pin 13 grounded you can at least rule out most of the board. Does your mix pot work---do you get any dry signal if you roll...

A growing collection of videos of PedalPCB pedals used on synths

Figured I'd revive this old thread of mine instead of starting a new one, as I did a video showing a bunch of pedals used on a MicroFreak and many of them are PedalPCB projects. Hopefully this is interesting to someone!

PedalPCB Gravitation Reverb for my SCHMORG

No worries! That's exactly how I expected it to work too and was kind of underwhelmed. It would be nice to filter out some of the highs that can get out of hand with the atmosphere control cranked. Interesting reverb, regardless!

PedalPCB Gravitation Reverb for my SCHMORG

My understanding of the tone control, based on Youtube demos (like this one and this one) and the one I just populated, is the opposite of that---it's more of a low cut. With the tone knob maxed out you get the full frequency range hitting the reverb, but as you dial the tone knob back it...
