    SOLVED Muzzle gate threshold

I missed this when it was first posted but I'll give my best guess incase you happen to see it. I'm not sure exactly what your goal is with the "lower" threshold and I'm definitely not an expert, but to me it looks like a voltage divider with the resistors R8 and R10 offsetting it as you noted...

    Jacques Pedals?

I didn't realize until I saw the trinity pedal that I recognized this brand. A small builder I follow had a pretty interesting interaction with the brand, they were teasing their trinity river overdrive, which was named after a local river to them and jacques found the post and was telling the...

    Random diodes in Durham designs?

I'm not familiar with the rockett stuff, but the devi ever board is hilarious, it's actually super impressive how many different circuits they fit on the one board. I can't imagine it being fun at all to build one.

    Random diodes in Durham designs?

Just remembered the snake oil marvelous engine, it has a set of LEDs in it that are in parallel with some schottkys. I always wondered if that one was something like they meant to put in a switch when they were being very inspired by the crunch box or jhs @ which it's basically a direct clone of...

    Random diodes in Durham designs?

I think it was on here a while ago I saw a pedal with a transistor inside with all pins grounded out. I wonder if some things are just there to mess with would be tracers.

SOLVED Can someone please help me troubleshoot a Virgil overdrive?

Glad you got it sorted! I wouldn't expect there to be an audible difference between a 4558 and 4580 in this circuit.

SOLVED Can someone please help me troubleshoot a Virgil overdrive?

It's always hard to tell in pictures especially on these blue resistors, but I thought his had a red band and yours had an orange one, either way if theres no gain then that's not your problem. I'd check for continuity across these spots, I'm not 100% sure if the traces are right as I'm not sure...

SOLVED Can someone please help me troubleshoot a Virgil overdrive?

Is your issue that its always quite gainy? There isn't a schematic for this project yet, but I believe this may be the minimum gain resistor and its 100k rather than 10k.

Retrospectives I - Fuzzhugger Doom Bloom / PPCB Death Cap

There's some charm to vero board spaghetti, but I can only stand doing a few a year now that I'm spoiled by PCBs. I really dig the graphics on the updated version you did here.

    Lovepedal Purple Plexi?

The 800 version is a little different, and I assume better noise wise looking at it, since you're not just cranking the gain and attenuating the input. I think it's definitely worth a build. I still have mine I built on vero board.

    Buffer removal

The transistor stage doesn't look like much at first glance so that's an easy mistake to make. The ibanez/maxon SD9 is very similar to the DS-1 but cuts out the transistor boost. It also cuts some more bass on the op amp stage so it's not 1-1, but It makes it a very different pedal. I'm now...

    Buffer removal

I decided to run it through LTspice instead of trying to guess. Orange being the DS-1, Green being a bufferless TS-9 give or take. Here are the two circuits, just to show my work incase I missed something. I dropped off the 470nf cap and 100k resistor to vref on the ds-1 because it's just...

    Buffer removal

It's tricky with the boss DS-1 because right after the buffer is the first transistor gain stage, which by the looks of it is going to be under 100k ohms input impedance in the best of cases, which is nice if we're dealing with a fuzz face, but not desirable for most applications. With the...

Two articles are in contradiction about the BD-2 tonestack, which one is right ?

well the "mid capacitor" c3 on the website posted above isn't grounded out, so it can't be set to minimum so I would argue it depends on what size mid pot you have. The BD-2 uses a 15k resistor here, which is bigger than a 10k pot as shown in the website example TMB fender stack, but if its a...

Two articles are in contradiction about the BD-2 tonestack, which one is right ?

https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?t=31625 I remembered reading about this integrated BD-2 project, and in this he says the tonestack being max bass and mids, minimum treble...

    REQUEST PPCB Minnow...

I don't see why not, or just use the rate LED as the indicator for both by using the anode from the rate and cathode from the bypass if you don't mind the rate not being blinky blinky in bypass. I'm going to try the bi-color LED set up for rate on my next modulation build, but thats a month or...

EP/OCD combo by Mas Effects - Question about feedback/oscillation

It could be input wires too close to output wires/pcb as well, i'd try moving wires if you haven't yet. Nothing on the schematics stood out to me as something that would cause an issue.

    DEMO MadBean Trash Compacter Compressor

I’m pretty sure it could just be wired as true bypass ignoring the buffer if you wanted to try that.

    DEMO MadBean Trash Compacter Compressor

Nice build! I like the color choices and commitment to top jacks haha. This wasn't on my radar at all. I really appreciate the demo, even though I got distracted and mostly ended up just listening to the playing instead of comparing the pedals/settings! I find its super hard to demo a compressor...
