Wah Inductors. No hype. Just measurements.

FWIW, here are the charts for some of the more common pedal x-formers . . . .

    EEPROM Socket for Spatialist?

It's a very common practice to socket most ICs. Makes it easier to swap in the event of failure, testing or just simple swapping.

Still can't find them in the store. (???)

    Audio probe help/tips

While your specific questions are valid, we need to know more information about the circuit(s) and have references to the schematic. Whether a particular component has signal strength on one side as opposed to the other does not provide enough reference to answer your questions. Where in the...

    Is it contest time again?

I may participate in a contest submission, (depending on its nature), but as potentially a judge and/or prize contributor, I would exempt myself from being a winner at any level. Curious to learn what the contest turns out to be. I'm tapped out for ideas.

    Stickman's germanium excel document

Seems the Google document is not shared properly. It requires bot a sign-in AND permission from document owner.

    Is it contest time again?

Whomever puts up the contest, please contact me via DM. I have several items of interest (untouched enclosures [various colors/sizes]; some NOS Ge PNP BJTs; and other pedal building goodies) to donate for the winner(s).

SWITCH-CRAFT (got any creative uses of switches?)

Great thread @Feral Feline ! Thanks for the great tips. One of the things that has triggered my OCD are SP three way toggle switches for changing between three different values of a component where the order is off - resulting in a left-to-right or right-to-left order that reads "Mid-Low-High"...

    Old Solder

That's why I don't touch the stuff with my bare hands. And when/if I do, I stop and wash my hands. I also wash my PCBs, after population, with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol; then wash with soapy water, rinse & dry well.

    Old Solder

Well, at least I don't chew on my solder. As for off-gassing, it takes 640°F to get ammonium chloride to break down and off-gas. I solder at lower temps than that. I don't touch it with bare hands and carefully wipe up any excess and use alcohol to wash my PCBs after population. Not my first...

    Old Solder

I'd use it. But I'd also keep a bit of flux handy. I use this with any old solder I find without issue.

1µF Box Film Capacitors and Finding a Good Size

Oftentimes we encounter builds that call for 1µF box film caps. And while they're not hard to find, finding a small enough 1µF film cap can be a challenge. How many times have we tried placing a 1µF box film that encroaches far enough outside its footprint to interfere with the placement of...

Purple Chorus (Analog Bi Chorus) board for sale anywhere?

Not sure what "MILC" means, but looking at it, it appears to be just Cees' way of implementing the bypass LED. IMO, the 2N7000 is a bit of overkill with regard to driving the LED and his bypass switch wiring seems a bit unconventional is all.

Is it ok to store guitar pickups and vacuum tubes in the same drawer?

Just cover 'em with goop. No one will see them.

Is it ok to store guitar pickups and vacuum tubes in the same drawer?

Negatron. Tubes by their design and nature are not prone to gaussian near-field effect when not powered. But then, I've never tried to pick up vacuum tube with a magnet of any kind.

    Even more new Tayda colors!

Yeah, I got a few for some fuzz builds. I think they turned out great. And yeah, they do tend to come across more as gold than "yellow".
