    Source for prebond?

I've had a roll from LMS that I've been using for a long time now, I love it.

    DEMO 89P13- Bass Overdrive

Great build, man (as usual 😂). My building time has really been limited lately and I haven't worked on a pedal in at least three or four weeks. I have a bunch of bass boards from Effects Layouts that I need to get on. I now have my full rig setup in the garage so I can actually put my pedals...

Did you solder your "magic" diodes into your Kliche/Klone build?

I'm pretty green with electronics and really just pick stuff up from reading and building and the Klon diodes are something I've read a bit about but my lack of electronics understanding means I just have to go off the stuff I've read and trust others. "For semiconductors (i.e., diodes here)...

Did you solder your "magic" diodes into your Kliche/Klone build?

My understanding of the Klon is that the vf is the most important factor over everything else, and that looking for a vf of about .35 should get you there regardless of other properties.

    Solder Brand

This is the stuff I use - Kester 66/44 .8mm. Looks like it's 20% off right now, $30, pretty good price. It's not nearly as messy or sticky as some of the other stuff I've used. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001W2XZOS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

How do you keep your tip clean?

I leave mine on for hours at a time at 470c and it looks bright and shiny and it's over three years old. I don't use any additional flux or tip tinner or anything, just solder. I'm not sure what you could do to that thing to make it look like it's spent a couple of years a the bottom of the...

MadBean Kompromat- voltages off, weak compression - help appreciated

You can follow the signal through the schematic and listen through each component. Even if you don't know what should be happening exactly, you can usually hear when there's something like a significant volume drop, or noise being introduced, or the like. If you find something suspect, post...

    Memorial Day Sales

It worked fine for me and didn't have any issues building it. The guy I gave it to is a working bassist and uses it live multiple times per week and loves it. Says it's his go-to.

    Memorial Day Sales

PPCB is the only maker I've used where the values are on the board. It's pretty handy but seems an odd reason to dislike a maker in particular.

MadBean Kompromat- voltages off, weak compression - help appreciated

An audio probe is really helpful in sniffing out problem areas if you've got one. If you don't building one is pretty simple.

    Solder Fume Extractor?

I use a small fan that hangs over my workstation which blows the fumes away from me to the corner of the garage. I might get a fume extractor one of these days, though. As far as measurements go, I tend to think and work in inches because that's what I always grew up with. I appreciate the...

Hero of Arizona (Boss HF-2) Flanger

I really dig the time and effort you put into the themes of your pedals, and I also love the little esoteric Arizona history lessons we get with your reports. As you know I've got a lot of connections to Arizona and I really love that state and the time I've spent there, so your pedals are...

    Lucky 7 (GE-7 Graphic EQ)

I like EQ. I feel like that's a given as a bass player, and I'll almost certainly build the bass version for myself. My 400+ has a seven band EQ but I don't use it that often, and this is certainly much lighter 😂 Great build and graphics as usual. This killer.

How do you keep your tip clean?

I don't use any tinner and I leave my iron on for hours at a time. I've been using the same tip for about three years when I bought a new station (Weller). I just put a blob of solder on the tip before I put it in the holder. When I take it out I use the brass sponge to clean it off and put a...

Why Should We Clean Boards From Flux?

I do it because I like the way it looks (as in - it doesn't look like someone blew their nose all over it) and because it's pretty much the first step in ensuring that I don't have any issues with a build (especially since I bend the legs out to hold the components in place). Once I clean the...
