    Eight Ball Overdrive

unfortunately buying opamps from amazon will be as likely to land genuine units as me shooting a 3-point basket blindfolded. it's probably the only component type (ICs) in this entire game where using genuine parts matters. please install some genuine opamps.

Who has built a FET City Drive?

we built FET city, we built FET city on thru hole board

    Eight Ball Overdrive

for what it's worth, you can actually just sub the JFET for a 2N5089 (or probably a 2N5088) and it doesn't sound any different. (per breadboard investigations). it's just an input buffer. good call. maybe drop in something guaranteed genuine like a 4558 or whatever and see if it works (opamp...

Rosamp SLO50 Soldano Clone Clean Channel Issue

if so, your amp is operating as it's supposed to. that's what the master volume is for, and this is normal.

Rosamp SLO50 Soldano Clone Clean Channel Issue

i’ve built the 100W version of this. selecting the crunch mode (from clean) in the ‘normal channel’ should result in a large output volume increase. if that’s not happening, i’d suggest carefully reviewing the wiring around the toggle switches, for a start. the amp shouldn’t need mods to make...

Who has built a FET City Drive?

i'm seeing this as a good thing. looking at the schematic, appears this could be a fun distortion. i'd breadboard it.

Is there a 'better' MOAB-style pedal out these days?

no idea if this will be to your standards/expectations, but i did a plexi-inspired build of the mofeta and i thought it was alright.. https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/%E2%80%98jmp-super-fet%E2%80%99-mofeta-eae-model-fet-w-super-lead-plexi-inspired-mods.25666/

DEMO [Vero] EHX Big Muff 2 “Bob Meyer pencil schematic” version

cheers 🤙🏻 hell yeah it’s got some big bottom going on, perhaps a bit dull on its own, but stacked with something like a RAT in front, it’ll do the thing.

DEMO [Vero] EHX Big Muff 2 “Bob Meyer pencil schematic” version

today’s forecast has been like this 🥵 (degrees celsius) so what better time to do a build demo for an infamous pedal circuit that has certainly copped some choice opinions in recent times. to make matters worse, i was impatient and didn't wait for the trace to be released, drew a vero layout...

DEMO War Scythe (EQD Hoof Reaper)

do it. breadboarding might seem like a time sink but i see it as an investment in peace of mind. really helps answer those questions. ay cheers! i love them equally. i guess it depends if you’re in the mood for a rat or muff flavour no worries 🤙🏻 thanks - i was kinda unsure about this take cos...

DEMO War Scythe (EQD Hoof Reaper)

this build is the result of trying out the scythe / tone reaper schematic on a breadboard sesh, and i was immediately impressed with just that one alone. seriously, the tone reaper / scythe fuzz is hecking brilliant. go build one if you haven't. but i decided i might as well just go with the...

    legit BB opa2134 ?

from this photo in the ad you linked - looks fake. if you want genuine, ya gotta buy em from mouser. https://mou.sr/4r0AHOf this is a mouser-sourced OPA2134PA: although if you just want to get on with life and not waste aud$11.94 on x1 dual opamp, a TL072 should suffice.

Aion Draco (Dr Boogie) JFET Bias

sometimes this just happens. recently, ive breadboarded a JFET distortion circuit which also called for 50K trimpots, but i found one of the JFETs couldn't achieve a bias range that i was satisfied with. so i just swapped the 50K trimpot for a 100K trimpot. this solved that issue. i suspect...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

+1 garageband user over here. its bascially logic pro lite. i've never felt the need to upgrade (for the purpose of shitty demos, nothing impressive)

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

i guess while we're on this tangent, we could say the same thing about folks copping DAWs and then suddenly they're a producer/musician.. but i'm not sure it's that cut and dry if we're going to judge people on the basis of tools they use to make 'art'. (so long as it's not AI, but let's not...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

sounds like a plan to me 🤟 with a setup like this, you'll be humming along making demos no worries. if you don't know if you need more than 2 inputs, you probably don't need those extra inputs (assuming you're not planning to record a drum kit)

DEMO Face Melter batch (Steel Panther P Melter)

thanks 🤙 pdf design isn't mine, i nabbed it from that thread above. yep, printed through tayda. delivery times are usually around 2 weeks for prints. just logged in to download this exact .pdf i used, but i can't upload the .pdf here for some reason 🤔

    when to use mlcc capacitors

people use them because they are small. otherwise wherever possible, it's best to use film caps. but sometimes large values like 1uF (or larger) are too big (PCB footprint, overall size) in a film cap format, so either MLCC or electrolytic alternative may be used.
