    Simply an Angry Andy

Just finished an Angry Andy for a friend. Never heard the original and was impressed with the sound of this. The boost sounds like a bit of a treble boost in the sweet spot and IMHO, needs a little more dB. However, my friend wanted it built to original specs.

    DWARVEN HAMMER

Given the description, I agree with HBC's diagnosis. Sounds like a common component. Check to see if the decade switch is functioning as designed.

    DWARVEN HAMMER

To be clear, you have a clean, strong signal when engaged?

    Optical tremolo fizz

I am assuming your builds are all true bypass? You could be overdriving the last stage. Check the pin voltage, ensuring Vref is half of V. This sounds like harsh crossover distortion to me.

Twenty-two Sevenths/CMOS Build low volume - Supply Voltage Issue?

CMOS are very sensitive to static short outs from handling. Is your CMOS devices socketed?

    Nine ball OD

I agree with @jimilee . You should be getting plenty of volume. Check all components to the schematic from IC 3.1 to the output jack.

    SOLVED Angry charles not working

From the picture, it appears your DC socket could be wired wrong. Center negative, sleeve positive. From the pic it appears the red is going to the center pin.

    MXR Carbon Copy Repair

I have encountered a few pedals which the effect is digital, where the effect appears to engage but there is no effect (led lights, EQ of the sound changes a little). Once I caused this in a Mooer Flanger by feeding it 18VDC instead of 9, so I am thinking these FV-1 / DSP / EPROM effects are...

Please help me mod my Lead Solder OD

I've built a few and actually did mods to make it sound more like a Soldano SLO 100. I Changed C8 from a 100pF to 220 pF cap, to take out the harsh fizzy high frequencies. I also changed C9 from a 22nF to 18nF to tame he mud. You may want to recheck your component values, as the one's I built...

“How did they make that sound” thread

Great concept for the thread. Sometimes an artist's gear list is available, but it is the stuff they are endorsed for and not what they used on the recording. Often the recorded gear was the studio's or producer's. Then there is microphones and post processing. Having played in moderately...

    Intermittent static in TWO EP-3 PRE style pedals.(just a discussion, not troubleshooting!)(now it’s a troubleshooting thread!😅)

Lots of good ideas prior to my post, but I am going to share left field similar things which happened to one of my moderate gain drive designs, which uses a charge pump and was on a board with other pedals which did not have a charge pump and did not exhibit the noise: faulty GFI outlets. A...

Kliche Mini worked... and now no sound?

I've burned out circuit traces on a few of these PCBs when removing parts. I've successfully found them and jumpered them with small bits of wire. A few times I thought about just starting over. The good news is that these PCB projects are built to stay together. The bad news, that makes them...

Kliche Mini worked... and now no sound?

IC2 Pin 4 should be -9Vish. IC100 pin 5 should be negative read to ground (-9V). Defective charge pump?

    OPA4134 - what should I build?

That chip is great for anything you want uncolored / low distortion.

    SOLVED Sabbath Distortion fizz only

Cool. I'd still recommend testing the ohms readings between pin 2 and 1, then 3 and 1. The reason I say that is, with the volume pot being the very last component before the output jack, it should mute any noise or signal when turned completely off. Sounds like you got solid advice on the...

    SOLVED Sabbath Distortion fizz only

Did you try and put a signal (guitar) through the effect? If yes and you heard guitar sound, does the volume affect the loudness of the guitar? My logic: This circuit emulates a combination of a Rangemaster treble boost into a Laney Supergroup amp, to which the real deal is hissy and fizzy. I...

    Momentary hold soft switch

I repurposed the stock SPDT of a Vox wah which has a very long thread neck to reach the treadle that no 3PDT that I could source could be found. The stock SPDT becomes in essence a SPST for grounding the relay coil and the LED indicator at teh same time. The common lug is sent to ground and the...

    Momentary hold soft switch

    Exactly!
  20. andrewsrea

    Momentary hold soft switch

Yes, except my design can use the existing SPDT stomp switch, alleviating trying to find a 3PDT (my design can simultaneously actuate an LED indicator) with the right height throat to actuate the effect or true bypass. Plus, 3DPT typically require more downforce to actuate and are mechanically...
