I never noticed it before, but I just checked the small 10 pcb order I made a couple of days ago and I did get charged 50 cents for sales tax, plus a 50 cent paypal fee.
I don't have the patience for a 1590a, so my hats off to any of you that cram circuits in them. I think I started to build a 1590a mosfet booster once, but I messed up drilling and things were colliding inside before I even tried to fit the vero board in.
I was never sure how to calculate that high pass filter setup there. It is supposed to be similar to a Timmy with the bass pot replaced by a resistor to preset the amount of blend in the capacitors.
You'd have 3.3k and 47nf making a 1026hz high pass then I guess the 3.3k+12k and 470nf making a...
Sounds more like Timmy than a Zen Drive. I dig it either way.
The matte pickguard looks better with the aged aesthetic of the rest of the guitar imo.
What's up with this spot:
Discombobulator? Crystal Lattice diffuser? Flux Capacitor?
Great playing. They sound good. I was really surprised (in a good way) at how thick the bridge pickup got at some points with overdrive. I have EP Custom Jazzmaster pickups in my Squier JM. The neck pickup sounds similar, warm yet articulate, but my bridge pickup is thinner.
How close to the...
One of my friends took an electronics class in college and part of one of their labs was repairing a broken wideband radio. He said they were given a schematic to help check over the circuit and it unfolded into 7 or 8 big pages.
Hizumitas or the Triangle 72 #2 (with NPNs instead of PNPs) from the Kit Rae schematics page, they're both very similar. It's huge and thick enough that you can crank the tone control without being shrill, but the tone control is somehow still usable in the lower range too. Finagling a mids...
Cooder, I missed this when you first posted it. Those are fucking amazing! I love the idea of the speaker baffle being tilted inside the cabinet, plus the port and reflector.
I think the last one I build I used the standard linear 100k pots for sustain, tone, and volume, then a linear 25k for the mids pot. I think the EQD called for like a 50k sustain pot (why?) and a 1m volume pot (much larger why??).
MPSA13 is the same pinout as a 2n5088, 2n3904, 2n2222, etc. If...
Robert's layouts are basically works of art with how symetrical he manages to make them. Having the values on the board is nice for quick building a circuit, but having the reference numbers is really handy when you're experimenting with mods or tweaking thing.
I like Aion's boards a lot too...
Funny thing, even after I made the 3pdt breakout board I ended up drilling one of my enclosures the wrong side too 😅
I'm really happy you tried it out and tweaked it. I was trying a flatter mid range on the muff tone control originally, but ended up compromising with the Russian muff values. I...
Looks great! How are you securing that relay switching board?
I got one of these boards a million years ago and never got around to building it for some reason. I need to put that in my queue.
Wiring lugged pots to the pads with solid core wire to the solder pads is far from ideal. I did that with vero builds when I first started building, but if I'm making a pcb build it's getting board mounted pots (unless I only have a lugged pot for one value lol). That person shouldn't be selling...
Think about getting one of these cheap testers if you don't have one yet. They're really handy for checking pinouts, hfe, resistor value, cap value, etc. This is the one I've had for a couple years now and it's well worth the $20 I paid for it...
