    Delay with RNG Modulation?

I know there are delays with a separate Wet out, but is there one with an fx loop for the wet? Like Delay Send > Ring Mod (or whatever) > Delay Return and RM’d repeats get mixed back to the regular Out. I know you could cook this up yourself, just curious if any PPCB (or other DIY) designs have...

Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

A thread on fuzzboxes, and the ‘80s, and no-one’s posted this one yet?!?

    Anybody Use A Small T-Square?

Regular pencil can be hard to see on an enclosure. Stabilo pencils are really nice for marking on aluminum, and other stuff: https://www.stabilo.com/us/products/coloring-drawing/colored-pencil-for-many-surfaces-stabilo-all/ I usually use a blue one, but any of the bright contrasting colors...

Fuzzy Fox Loud static when engaged [Moved to Troubleshooting]

That’s what I was thinking at first. My Foxx Tone Machine (built from the old GGG board) will play one of the local Tejano stations pretty loud and clear if you plug it in on the wrong side of the house. But, re-reading the OP, it sounds like they’re getting just static, rather than signal...

Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

The clone of Norman Greenbaum in the video is pretty impressive. Does this guy walk around like that all the time? Just hope he doesn’t pull an Al Jolson on a Hendrix-themed pedal…😬 ;) Pedal sounds decent.

    Vibrato on delay signal

Doesn’t the Memory Man have a Level pot to set the input gain?…🤔 Madbean has a few different DMM PCBs with vibrato already included.

Steiner Parker VCF - can it work?

I don’t have the technical chops to help you troubleshoot this. But do post back here if you make any progress. I’ve got two Steiner filters (in the form of a Matrixbrute and a Blue Lantern Steiner VCF module), and it would definitely be cool to have a (functional) pedal-ized version out there...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

The first term was, essentially, a (not terribly clever) petty mob boss trying to run—and being somewhat constrained by—the existing US government. Turned out not to be super successful at achieving good governance, or at doing mob stuff (grifting, self-dealing, random acts of vindictiveness...

Steiner Parker VCF - can it work?

You might try also posting on a synth DIY forum like https://www.modwiggler.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=17 Probably more people who have built a version of this circuit (albeit without the guitar-specific mods) over there.

Holy Island's "HOW TO BUILD A SPEED MODDED TAPE PLAYER" help?

LM117 and LM317 are the same, 117 just has a wider temperature range (and thus will probably be more expensive if you find one). 317 is fine here, and you only need one regulator. If you look at the datasheet for any voltage regulator, they always show caps in those spots. I assume they’re for...

Holy Island's "HOW TO BUILD A SPEED MODDED TAPE PLAYER" help?

1.) The diagram from the video shows 240 and 390R. Calculator confirms this should get you to 3.3-ish V out. You just build the little circuit he drew on a piece of perf or protoboard, and wire it in series 9V supply > LM317 board > Power In on cassette player (per his photo) 2.) What he...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

Looks like you’re “just asking questions”! ;) Re: DAWs, I’ll throw in another endorsement for Studio One. I tried several different ones, and it turned out to be the most intuitive to me. I think all the big DAWs have at least some kind of free trial version, I’d download a few and see what...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

I’m not super knowledgeable on all the technical aspects of audio interfaces, but I’ve had the MOTU M4 for a few years now and it’s been very solid. No complaints.

    when to use mlcc capacitors

I linked it because it had some relevant technical info about MLCC caps. I don’t care what you buy, champ. :)

    when to use mlcc capacitors

They’re mainly a higher quality replacement for ceramic disc caps. Usually used for very low capacitance values that film caps aren’t available in. Is the quality difference between ceramic disc and MLCC discernible in most pedal circuits? 🤷‍♀️ Maybe not, but MLCCs are pretty cheap these days...

    Homemade “Tool”: Sanding/Ironing board

I was looking for a better way to hold enclosures steady while I sand them. “Better than holding them with my feet?!” you ask? Maybe so… I channeled my ‘caveman level’ woodworking skills, drilled some strategic holes in a piece of plywood, put some 10/24 tee nuts on the back to serve as...

    Scabbard inductor value

It does indeed appear to form a passive RL low-pass filter, with a bizarrely high cut-off frequency far outside the range of human hearing, not to mention anything that might be present in a guitar signal… I’d be interested to hear someone speculate as to any reason it might be there 🤷‍♀️

    Are these 1S1588 counterfeits?

Totally happened to my friend’s cousin’s buddy, in Florida. It was a big tough guy with tears in his eyes and then he said “sir, thank you for having the courage to use period-correct NOS parts when no-one else would!” 🫡

    Low Tide - Resurrected

Looks great 👍 Is that an underwater topographical map? Can you etch into the actual metal (as opposed to the paint) a significant amount? I’ve been curious weather a laser could replace chemical etching on bare aluminum. What I’d read/seen in the past suggested a hobbyist-grade laser could...
