ARACHNID DIED AFTER I TOUCHED SOMETHING...

Next challenge - get the FV-1 datasheets and the programming guides and teach yourself FV-1 assembly :-)

ARACHNID DIED AFTER I TOUCHED SOMETHING...

There are also plenty of patches that people have written available on the net. One person has even collated most of them together on Github. You can get a cheap EEPROM burner (or use an arduino as an EEPROM burner I believe) and try out everything out there. I have the original Modul8...

Arachnid V2 Bypass Sound Only Troubleshooting.

Has to be power or the switch. I am betting one of the wires broke with the handling. Hopefully it is an easy find and fix for you

    Broken Swollen Pickle

It looks as if you are using the diode test setting on your meter. It doesn't sound as if that setting also tests continuity (beeps when there is continuity)? If you don't get beeps when you short the 2 leads together then you will need to test using low ohms setting (probably 200 ohms?). It...

    Broken Swollen Pickle

It's a bit hard to tell from the photos, but it looks as if the footswitch is one of the 2 pin momentary SPST ones. Checking it should be easy. Just hook up a multimeter on continuity to the switch lugs and toggle it a few times. If you consistently get continuity, and only when you should...

ARACHNID DIED AFTER I TOUCHED SOMETHING...

    1. You replaced the chip. Where did you get the replacement? 2. Measure voltages. Look for 0v on pins 1 to 4 and 7. Look for 3.3v on pin 8. From memory the data lines will also measure about 3.3v on a multimeter (pins 5 and 6). 3. - Have you got an EEPROm programmer? If so you can read...

Not sure what you mean by the "builder" chip. Do you mean the FV-1, the TL074 or the EEPROM chip?

Clock Noise on Arachnid Build. ..

The crystal and a cap or 2 are the network that generates the clock. The Fv-1 then works a few other clocks from there.

Arachnid V2 Bypass Sound Only Troubleshooting.

So you are getting the effect sound but not the direct sound? If that is the case that is really good news, because there's not many places that could be the problem then. The direct sound splits from IC1 pin7, and goes through C6 and R4 to the mix pot. If you use the audio probe to follow...

Arachnid V2 Bypass Sound Only Troubleshooting.

OK, I haven't sat down with the datasheet and looked at every single pin, but that is looking about correct. One question before you audio probe, where is your mix control set? Try it at one end, and then the other end. Are you getting sound at either extreme of the mix control (with the...

    Terrarium programming help

This is backwards. On an LED the Anode is the longer lead and the cathode is shorter

Arachnid V2 Bypass Sound Only Troubleshooting.

Did you solder the FV-1 yourself? Have you checked voltages to the ICs. If so what results did you get? Do you have an audio probe? If not you will likely need one.

    SOFTii Overdrive Defective PCB?

Looking at what Robert has posted it looks as if that trace goes to the other end of that resistor, not the close one. That will be why there is no connection between the transistor and the closest leg of the resistor - there is not supposed to be.

    SOLVED Sugarbag Overdrive no signal

Your voltages look good. Your soldering is not the worst. I would try swapping out IC1 for another one if you have it- or swap IC1 and IC 2 over if you haven't. Also, test the gain pot to make sure you are getting a full sweep of resistance from 0 to 1M. If that pot is faulty you could get...

    SOLVED Sugarbag Overdrive no signal

What voltages are you getting on each of the IC pins?

    MXR Carbon Copy Repair

If you suspect a switching FET you can temporarily short the source and drain. If the signal goes through after that then replace it.

    MXR Carbon Copy Repair

I am sure it is doable (I mean, anything can be repaired). It will not be an easy task though. The first thing to do is to measure the voltages on the ICs and see if they are close to what the datasheets say they should be. If your supply voltages check out then you are going to need to trace...

SOLVED No sound when effect off but LED and sound work when switched on

Looking at the soldering on the switch PCB I am surprised that the effect works either. Resolder that and you should be fine. Just a tip is that those switches are easy to damage with too much heat. Make sure you have a nice hot iron so you can get in and out quickly, and take a break between...

problem with Q3 on the ocelot octaver

Yep, at first glance those diodes all look OK. I would not be rushing to replace them. I assume you have fixed the problem with the Q3 connection? First thing is does the direct/clean sound work?

problem with Q3 on the ocelot octaver

I have recently built one of these and should be able to give you some help. Mine is on my pedalboard though and I need it tomorrow. After that though I can take it off the board for a bit. One thing I do notice from your video is that you are playing chords into it. That will never work...
