DEMO Rock Mania delay pushed to the max - calling PT2399 experts

I think so. Companding does reduce quantization noise in low bit depth systems. A lot of the *good* digital delays in the early days used companding. The Eventide 910 and some of the Lexicon units had them when the converters were 10 or 12 bit. But it sounds like you don’t have the power to...

DEMO Rock Mania delay pushed to the max - calling PT2399 experts

I think “underclocked” is the word. To get acceptable results, I think you would need to use companding or preemphasis, like with an analog delay.

    Drill Press Recommendations

Ah a cross slide vise looks like the thing I needed that I didn’t know the name for. I fear how many years of machinist videos I will now get every time I open you tube.

    Drill Press Recommendations

I have that Ryobi or an earlier model. It seems decent. Can someone point to a reference for what type of vise is most appropriate for our use case? Context: no machinist skills whatsoever.

Has anyone tried Z-DSP cards plugged into a PedalPCB project?

The only one really eyebrow raising good is the “Halls of Valhalla” and I respect that company too much to rip their work despite significant professional curiosity.

Digital BBD concept looking for comments and beta testers

The advantage over a BBD is that it is multitap unlike any of todays readily available parts. The advantage over plain DSP part is that you don’t have to write any software.

Adding effect loop to delay repeats?

Phase isn’t so much a problem, but anything that adds gain in the loop makes managing the feedback tricky.

    Skeptical Buffer dynamics?

Sounds like “connectoritis” - something is barely connected somewhere. Check for cold solder joints.

    Thoughts on non-DIY reverb

Keep talking … this is free market research for my pedal. 😈

    Thoughts on non-DIY reverb

BigSky is kind of the DL4 of reverb pedals at this point. I gave it away after I ruined too many things by using too much of it. It's sort of addictive but extremely distinctive sounding, and so I think it's something you can tire of. The Source reverbs are equally excellent but perhaps a bit...

    collecting all right components?

Let’s stay on topic and keep this a religious war of solid and stranded. 😅

This Week on the Breadboard: a BBD Reverb

It would be kind of silly to take a whole dsp that has the capability to run a complete algorithm and then build a primitive reverb out of it by treating it as a dumb delay line. Analog feedback is cool for delays, not so cool for reverbs.

It must go Hhhhwwwwwrrrrggggg when you change the size.

Digital BBD concept looking for comments and beta testers

It’s a cool idea. I think it would be useful in a lot of designs. I would want to be sure that modulation was as smooth as possible to make it widely applicable to chorus and vibrato style applications.

    Fv-1 stereo EPROM algorithms

That’s cool. I kind of stopped working on this much because my designs are all moved to fxcore now.

    FV-1 Algoritm Patches

Sounds cool. Interested in seeing what you come up with. I wonder if the chorus will have the same "charm" as the BBD. That's a pretty specific sound to emulate.

    FV-1 Algoritm Patches

I think the ASM (the .SPN file) is the lingua franca on the internet for the most part. Unfortunately the ASM output from SpinCad is not very pretty for people who are used to hand written ASM, so it probably makes sense to also post the original .SPCD files for people who want to modify it...

    Finished my Binaural build!

    I would normal the right jacks to the left jacks. That gives you L -> L L -> L & R L & R -> L L & R -> L & R You can’t mix the two outputs to mono by bridging them, but you can have all the combos above.

    FxCore is great

Hi gents This fxcore part is great. I'm having a nice time with it. I'm porting some of my fv1 reverbs to the fxcore dev board and it just sounds so much better. The asm is a little more complicated, but the instruction set is way more powerful. I'm going to need to up my game to use up all...
