SOLVED Oxide Distortion is Too Quiet

I got them on Ebay. They came set in foam in a bag. One worked briefly then stopped producing anything bit a high pitched whine from the output of the second op-amp. The other 2 didn’t have any output at the first op-amp stage. It could definitely be down to mishandling on my end but I’ve never...

SOLVED Oxide Distortion is Too Quiet

Thank you to everyone for your help, espcially @swyse! There was definitely a bad looking solder connection in the second op-amp stage which resolved that issue. After more testing it seems like all 3 of the CA3260 were bad or went bad during testing. I can see why they discontinued them! I...

SOLVED Oxide Distortion is Too Quiet

No, the volume coming out of pin 7 on the IC is about the same as it is coming out of R10. Does that indicate a problem in the second op amp stage? I've tried two op-amps (one 3260 and one JRC4588D) and neither made an appreciable difference in the volume.

SOLVED Oxide Distortion is Too Quiet

Solution: Using an audio probe and tracing the path of the signal, I found that the second op-amp stage was not actually sending out an amplified signal on its output, pin 7. I reflowed the solder on the parts in that stage and replaced the spec'ed IC, a CA3260, with a JRC4850D...

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

I'm a glutton for punishment so I went at it again. I replaced the IC with a JRC 4580D and then the signal started going all the way through the IC again so it looks like that was one of the problems. I was able to trace the signal to the input base, pin 3, on Q2 where it sounds fine, but the...

    125B PedalPCB Arche Boost [125B]

Hole 3 on Side A is for the LED. I have it sized for use with an LED bezel so adjust that hole according to your build plans if necessary.

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

I'm not sure what's changed but now I get a signal on pin 5 of the IC, but a very faint signal on Pin 7 and all of the components in the stack between those two. I've tried reflowing the solder but no change. EDIT: Now the signals not coming through pin 5 again. Thanks for your help everyone...

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

I've tried testing again and now I get a clear signal on pin 3 of the IC but nothing on any of the other pins or any of the components in the clipping stack. I do have a 47pF in place of a 51pF since the 47pF measured closer to 51pF than the actual 51pF I had in there before.

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

Looks like one of the solder pads on C1 is gone. Not sure if it happened just now or earlier. I replaced C1 and I am back to getting a very faint signal when I max out all the knobs.

I do not, also the LED is no longer working.

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

Yeah the PCB lists 25v for all of them which is what I used. I have 50v versions of them as well if that would make a difference.

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

Ok, I've built an audio probe, but I'm not sure how to use it. I've got the jack on the probe going to an amp and I'm running an audio signal trough the circuit from my phone. I hear the music when I probe the jack, the input on the switch pcb, the in on the main pcb, and the lead of R1 (but not...

Yeah, the LED has always turned on.

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

Unfortunately, that's not it. I cleaned it up just to be sure but I still get no signal. I will try to wire one of those up. Is there a way to do it with the continuity setting on my multimeter? I tried testing along the signal path and I get a tone from the jack to the switch on up to the...

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

I have black for + and red for - in this one. Wire color for me is more or less random. Power doesn't seem to be the issue. The LED lights and the pedal seemed to be working for at least a few minutes before it stopped.

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

Not sure if this is useful but I tried measuring voltage across components to see if/where there was a break in the current but I get a pretty consistent reading across every component I test. Including from out to ground. Is there a good way to work through the circuit path to see if I can...

    Oxide, Working then Not Working

I've been running into issues with putting together an Oxide pedal. After assembling it, bypass sounded fine but when switched on the pedal was very quiet. I started checking component values with a DMM and found a number that were out of tolerance so I replaced those and the circuit seemed to...

    125B PedalPCB Super '64 Overdrive [125B]

Hole 2 is the LED hole. It is at 6.8mm for using with a chrome bezel so adjust that one if you don't plan on using one.

It looks like this is already on the product page, but I was also able to use this for the Pedal PCB Maleficent Mids.
