    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

I'm no electrical engineer, but I thiiiink this might get you the killswitch that reverses function when you toggle the DPDT switch. Somebody check my homework.

    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

Yeah, that's method #2, where the switch's default position is open and you momentarily close it.

    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

Well, both methods I talked about above describe a push-to-kill setup. If you reverse the wiring descriptions, then you can make a reverse killswitch. Probably wouldn't be that difficult to make it accompany a toggle switch to reverse the functionality. Personally my brain finds it easy enough...

    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

I tried it with a few different push-button switches until I finally found some that were reliable and robust. I currently have one that lives between the Volume and Tone knobs on my Tele switch plate. It's important to know that there are two ways to pull this mod off: 1) A momentary spst...

    New to the game!

Like @burger-patty-and-bacon, I have an X-tronic, the X-Tronic 3060 Pro. You get a lot of extras if you get the more expensive setup. It's especially nice to have all the different solder tips. I am not sure why Hakko gets the majority of recommendations around here, but I'm sure that's another...

SOLVED Twin Face - Si/NPN side, odd Q2 voltage?

Holy crap, I finally figured it out. Silicon NPN: switch is pointing up. Germanium PNP: switch is pointing down. :ROFLMAO: Not sure why the Ge side was giving me a good voltage in the wrong position. Maybe I accidentally put it in the correct position at first.

SOLVED Twin Face - Si/NPN side, odd Q2 voltage?

I can try that. I did measure them both with my Chinese measure-o-matic and they looked fine. The hFE were very similar too.

    Anyone up for troubleshooting?

Any chance the hot wire from the output jack is touching the back of that one potentiometer? On that note, are you not using dust caps at all? Also the bottom lug of the spdt switch seems like it's not soldered, but that could be the angle.

Your First Transistor Spice Rack (Input needed)

It's too late in the day. I was laughing at NUTS

SOLVED Twin Face - Si/NPN side, odd Q2 voltage?

So I used my DMM and checked all the resistor values, the trim pot value, and continuity everywhere I could think of. All the sockets have continuity to the other side of the board as well. Here's some photos of the NPN side. I did hit it with contact cleaner right after this too, just because...

Your First Transistor Spice Rack (Input needed)

Yeah, I didn't bother with a full list of Germanium transistors, because (a) you're likely to find them in small quantities only, (b) there seems to be a lot of variability within the same model of transistor, and (c) people seem to enjoy trying whatever they can in different circuits. I did...

Your First Transistor Spice Rack (Input needed)

While I've been around for a few months, I am constantly surprised about all the transistors that seem to pop up in schematics that I just don't have. A majority of the time this is to be expected, such as when I look up to see what an OC71 is, and what prices they command due to rarity. But...

MODIFICATION Common Mods For Many Circuits

so if I get this correct, the pot lugs are 1: GND, 2: to the transistor's somethingorother (I'm gonna guess the base), 3: input signal (?)

SOLVED Twin Face - Si/NPN side, odd Q2 voltage?

Bump, because once this weekend is over I'm hoping to disassemble the enclosure and check the other side of the pcb. It looked OK last time but maybe I missed something.

    Anatomy of a breadboard

Newbie tip: make sure you take care when sticking your breadboard to a platform. Say, the Micro protoboard. I didn't get it square enough, and a "correction" resulted in the entire adhesive layer getting ruined. Fortunately I don't think I destroyed the spring clips themselves, so I think I will...

    Breadboard Emulators

I saw Brian Wampler's video on how to breadboard, and I think the comments mentioned circuits.io as what he was using. But it looks like that's a subscription service now. With the parts arriving for my Mini Protoboards today, I would like some way to plan something out and maximize my real...

    Loafing Lounge

That's exactly what I was thinking of @BuddytheReow. I had purchased these green clamp things (shut up, I was a mechanical engineer not electrical) in preparation for a Protoboard. I guess I can use them up and order more. Definitely a good part to have on hand, just like pin headers.
