Who's down for some SMD layouts?

Nice! You do that all with the little hot plate? You also use a hot air gun on top? Gotta link to paste?

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I stick to 0805 on my layouts and 0204 for MELF resistors. 0603 is getting into my PIA zone.

Looking for Ideas on "EQ-less" overdrive pedals...

When you say 'trim the fat,' do you mean you want to save space or you want one foot switch to control the distortion and EQ together?

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I'm pretty happy with my SMD system I've cooked up. Amazon has a lot of tool and gadgets for 'beading' and it's pretty perfect for SMD parts. Removing each one from the strip is the longest part, so I got little beading cups with screw-on lids. I pull the whole strip of parts into the cup at...

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I'm down. Not too thrilled about having to use MLCC caps for everything, though. Another option I think would be cool would be a hybrid design, having JLCpcb pick and place most everything but the film caps, Ge didoes and other TBD parts people like to swap out or hand solder.

    What's on the workbench?

I was just thinking about the Raincoat yesterday - mainly that it could be a good home for Ge transistors.

    Adding a blend to a Promethium (HM-2)

That's fine. If I were to do it over again, I would use a very different circuit, though. Adding a clean blend needs to be considered on a pedal-by-pedal basis because a lot of circuits flip the phase.

    Transformer builds?

I'm surprised I've never seen anyone do a dedicated isolated pedalboard output module.

Same here! Just ordered myself a compact reverb. Free shipping and with the discount, it's less than buying a used one on Reverb.

10 votes on the wish list guys. We can do better. Remember, the voting is done on the top right area of the post, not the normal "LIKE" for a forum post.

    Surfy Industries Modulation pedals

Nope. First starting out they sold a PCB for DIY reverb. Still using mine as an always-on effect. Tempted to just buy their new reverb mini.

    Surfy Industries Modulation pedals

Was looking around on Freestomp forum and found some links to threads at Musikding (in German) where people are breaking down the Surfy Industries Vibrato and Tremolo pedals and they're pretty interesting designs. (Links go through Google Translate) The Vibrato tries to emulate Magnatone but...

Is it just me or are the Cornish designs all a bit crap?

1182s I got were all very leaky. At this point, finding enough non-leaky Ge diodes will take a lot of time and money, ordering tons of different diodes and testing them all. The solution is a BAT54s diode with a series 68R resistor. I've A/B tested this and it works and sounds identical to...

    Black Cock Fuzz (Pink/Purple)

Did my own layout for the Pink/Purple fuzz and it originally called it 'Brown Bear' until I happened upon a video about all-black chickens from Indonesia called Ayam Cemani. Highly prized, they're called the 'Lamborghini of chickens.' I think the double entendre is hilarious. My wife is...
