I’m having this same issue with a Tayda Purple Plexi 800 I just finished. I’ll have to double check the component values. Would probing them one at a time help me find the problem component?

Good eye! I added that cable and I’m getting effected signal now, BUT, the last 5% of the Gain knob still causes a high pitched squeal. Any ideas? Also, I owe you a beer! 🍻

EDIT: I tried putting a 47R in place of the 10R in R3, and the squeal at max gain is gone, though I think it loses just a bit of attack/gets a little sponge-y. Any other values you guys suggest? I’d also love to have the Level pot have more range with unity gain being near the middle instead...

Sounds awesome. Instant Jack White vibes. Definitely love not having to pay full retail for such hipster bait. I was expecting it to be really noisy and unwieldy too, but it’s actually quite tame when not playing. A very pleasant surprise.

I tracked down 25uf caps for mine, but I wasn’t aware of the Gain knob mod. I got great results with the gain maxed and rolling back my guitar volume for what it’s worth.
