Who's down for some SMD layouts?

If you don't mind waiting for shipping, you can get the exact same thing on AliExpress cheaper than Amazon.

    First Build report - M800

After some very deliberate tuning of the JFET's bias, I was able to tighten the bass response to acceptable levels starting with my highest output humbuckers. Thanks for the additional nudge to get back inside and do this.

    General Stupid questions

You want to measure outside of the circuit, not inside it.

    General Stupid questions

It depends on how much of a slope you want. I assume that that the single turn you are used to is linear but has a much steeper response slope than a multi turn. I would think it should be fine theoretically, but I'll defer to experience if someone has tried it. All my circuits training was...

    First Build report - M800

I think the problem is from dialing it in with a lower output single coil and then hitting it with a humbucker. I tend to grab whatever I have out at the moment and I think I'll be a bit more deliberate with the input source and see what I get.

2-in-1 Pedal Wiring: How Are They Able to Share Power?

If they are both analog, you'll be fine. The digital stuff takes more in general.

Thanks, I was strongly considering the dirty Sanchez or brown Betty next, but this gives me something else to think about.

    First Build report - M800

I've got the bias dialed in. Don't get me wrong, they are fire breathing monsters of gain and volume, but I just haven't got tones from them I like yet. I find the bass response in particular gets muddy when the A and low E strings are played at the same time, but single note lead lines are fine.

2-in-1 Pedal Wiring: How Are They Able to Share Power?

Voltage divides is series but is the same in parallel. Current divides in parallel but is the same in series. So, effects in parallel, it will draw the extra current if you use a source with more on tap than the required amount. Same way a daisy chain power supply can power multiple pedals.

Tops are plain. I've not figured out what to do with them yet.

Who's down for some SMD layouts?

I'd be interested if you offered a stencil for applying solder paste as an option, or as a download or part of the instructions.

    General Stupid questions

To answer your other question, a trimmer should not add more noise once it is static, and once you determine an optimal R value, you could always swap in a static resistor if you can find a suitable one.

Something like this is what I will be using going forward. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Bourns/3339P-1-103LF?qs=pSi0RBzb0oq3DckZs1IQyg%3D%3D

    General Stupid questions

Multi turn trimpots that I have used don't have detents, the difference is an internal worm gear arrangement to drive the slider at a finer rate.

    General Stupid questions

The wiper is the center. If you measure the resistance from end to end, it should be the total resistance of the part and not change with turns. Are you using single or multi turn trimpots? I found that single turn trimpots for biasing can be extremely touch sensitive. If you want to lock it...

    First Build report - M800

I wanted a MIAB pedal so I decided on the M800 for my first build. It took 4 days to get everything soldered and wired together. The offboard wiring gave me a bit of trouble with polarity of the input/output jacks, the DC jack I was using was grounding out the ring to the enclosure and had to be...

    SOLVED M800 Transistor biasing

It didn't sound bad before, but now more as expected. Thanks for spotting the issue quickly

    SOLVED M800 Transistor biasing

Success! There is still a Radio Shack in town that has components, so I was able to get the correct resistor. After much consternation removing the wrong-valued R11, the new one is in place and the pedal went from a mild-mannered overdrive to a fire breathing monster!

    SOLVED M800 Transistor biasing

Thanks, I concur. I doublechecked the order sheet from mouser and it seems I didn't even order a 470 Ohm resistor. Somehow I managed to mess that one up multiple times then. Once when I ordered, and once again when I laid out the components on the build sheet printout.

    SOLVED M800 Transistor biasing

The reading is correct. I can turn the bias pot with audio going through the pedal and hear it changing the sound from off through very quiet to on. I tried using a braid to de-solder the trimmer but I'm afraid I can't get enough heat into it without damaging it.
