I’ve been curious about this one. I’m going to look deeper. Nice work😍

Zap Machine v2 (Double Tap Fuzz)

My grandfather was a union sheet metal worker. He taught me to solder when I was a kid. On my tenth birthday he gave me a hundred dollar bill in a welded closed sheet metal “envelope”. He let me loose in his shop to get it out. I used the bench grinder to open one end and a pair of needle nose...

I wish I could make enclosures just like this. I love it when the diy goes deeper. Amazing😍😍😍

Your parts are good to go then. Guitar pcb fets are quality.

Gotcha. I love Tayda, but yeah I wouldn’t use those. They stopped carrying them because they got a bad batch.

I didn’t know that Tayda has had 5457 for sale for years.

I used to build for Devi in the day. Hit me up for info on those pedals. Fuzzdog has a lot wrong with many of his Devi ideas in his build docs. The SM/Vfm should be gated fuzz with no noise floor (not in chaos mode) and a dramatic difference in modes.

    SOLVED Octarock Not Turning On

I’ve successfully built these with a variety of fets. Through hole, smd, 5457 and j201. I think they are just buffers. No strict requirements.

Other than a couple of foot switches, I’ve never run into a faulty part. I only use trusted vendors and vetted projects. I have vendors I will not purchase from anymore due to them releasing flawed projects, or not being public with their errata.

    Recommendation: Mids Forward Buzzy Fuzz

I leave off the high cut switch. I feel there is enough tone shaping with the knobs.

To be transparent, it’s not mine. I found it on Osh Park and it has been a hit in my store for years. It’s very cheap to build so it’s affordable. It’s often a gateway pedal for my customers.

How do you keep your tip clean?

Same. I don’t use tinner though. My iron is on for several hours at a time.

Yes. I do not rock before I box. I build directly into the enclosure I hold the PCB component side down in my left hand, place all of the pots, switches, and LEDs in their respective holes, and then raise it into the drilled enclosure. And then holding the PCB into the enclosure, I flip it over...

    Recommendation: Mids Forward Buzzy Fuzz

It’s interesting to see the buzzaround mentioned here several times. Yes “buzz” is in the name but it is not at all in the sound. I’ve build literally hundreds of them and it is definitely a smooth, lightly gated, high gain distortion. Not a fuzz.

Their body is a bit taller and they have flush feet that keep them in place on the pcb whilst attempting to get...
