Super nah. The only thing I have ever had difficulty finding are out of production/obsolete things, like Germanium diodes, transistors and IC s. Having said that, there is a learning curve to the Mouser search engine, but seriously, there is no shortage of common components.

Yup, Ibanez AR325QA (artcore 325 quilted ash). It's a very fun guitar--can toggle between parallel humbucker, single coil, and series humbucker, (it's why I use it a lot to test pedals) and the quilted ash top is pretty nifty.

The sad thing is, I tuned it by ear at first. I only got it going when I dove back in. I think I actually pushed it slightly off the "ideal" setting. To my ear, my amp-y overdrives need a little of "off-ness" --asymmetricality, maybe? some imperfection in the decay and clipping to sound good...

Potentiometers that are situated over top of the board (which in the low tide is all of them) are hovering over the solder points of your components. The backs are made of conductive metal, therefore if they contact the solder points, you're effectively bridging components, which might not be...

Adding a pulldown resistor should be very very easy to install and uninstall if you're curious to test. It's just one leg of a1m T'd into the input line before it hits the circuit, other leg to ground.

Somebody once pointed out that if you have a glass diode, look at the end where the germanium pellet is--it's what the bar in the schematic symbol for diode is representing (cathode/k).
