When I first built mine I had my LED installed backwards and I noticed that the saturation pot seemed to act a bit more like a gain control. There may have been other issues as well but maybe check your LED is in the property orientation. Good luck!

Others have mentioned something similar. Routing your wiring as far way from components as possible or even using shielded wire could help. But I your own troubleshooting thread with photos of your build would be a good way to try and figure out what's going wrong.

I'll have to compare schematics a bit just to see what's up. It does sound like it's got a creamier feel in the lows/mids and definitely sounds like it has more baseline gain on tap. The mids sound very gentle and less focused too.
