I like this circuit for the "need a TS to push something else" utility. On it's own, meh. But if you want to squeeze a TSish boost into something else, yeah.
$5 jfets?
I would advise to stick to the BOM and take SPIs advice.
You can't just swap jfets like Si transistors. Well, you can. But no mojo-img will ensue. Likely that no audio will either.
Appologies if you very much know what you are doing here. But from the way your question reads, it seems...
Very cool!
I have a Peavey T-MAX bass head/rack from the late 90s early aughte that I LOVE. It was one of the last bass amp models to roll out of Meridian IIRC. A lot of the last of the US made bass gear is super solid.
It's currently in a 15 combo config with a huge black widow + another 210...
Jfet is a single one junction device
If you look at the symbol, and squint, it's a diode symbol with 2 cathodes(source and drain). This wasn't by mistake.
Any jfet with a gate in the middle should work, or twist em.
Also, there's no reason to socket these jfets unless you think you'll toast them.
When you short the gate and source, they're just diodes, essentially.
What jfets are used? The 3819 has gate on pin 2
If you used something with a different pinout, like a 201 or 5457, that'll do it.
You can test this theory by pulling the jfets.
I recently picked up some of this chip quik no clean.
The synthetic flux is supposed to be removable with hot (60C/140F) water
I've been happy with the wetting and flow but haven't tried to wash a board yet.
