    Painted enclosures - faraday cage?

No. That would be a faraday hat. Everything needs to go to ground. Cracks are way worse than holes. Any crack will allow rfi passage of a frequency with a wavelength 4x it's length. i.e., 1 Ghz is 30 cm, so it and any frequency at or below 1 Ghz could pass through a crack of 7.5cm. If the...

SIZE QUEEN TC-1 says "no component" but it's in there...

Yeah. They don't do low pf. I usually grab a 100pf or the like and parallel them for anything sub 50 or so. The adcopy claims 25pf-100u I can only imagine that on the edge of capability isn't that accurate either.

Long time listener, first time caller... (Muroidea

Are you feeding it a particularly hot signal? Once you extend the opamp as far as it can go, you won't see much change. This will happen way sooner in the rotation with active or hot pickups or most basses A parallel resistance with the pot could help this and is easy enough to test with a pair...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

SM7B is really a killer mic, still. I'd almost say make that your second mic purchase, but it's a bigger investment than a 57. But, you can use it on everything. I would grab it before a cheap condenser. You can also make some decent sounding electret mics for pretty cheap.

Motu and RME are probably the best about maintaining drivers for a LONG time.

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

What do you want to do? What are your goals with this setup? What's the biggest use case you can think of? Just at home, or possibly mobile? (You may want something bus powered if mobile) I wouldn't get a 476, personally,.but it looks cool as a "good 2 channel interface with different flavors...

Poison apple. help me think through what I am seeing

L78Lxx and L78xx have reversed pinout. Power the board up without the regulator and see which pin is hot. If you have 9v on the center pin, you have a bridge/short somewhere

    El Sol - subbing caps?

I'd sub film caps, even a smaller value, down to 220n or lower should be fine, unless it's.for bass or an 8 string/bari. Neither 1u is part of a filter network, purely decoupling

Add 7 unnecessary buffers? Maybe a overly complicated power section that will run off any laptop charger or stepdown transformer?

    when to use mlcc capacitors

I have, once. But the pedal was on the floor 3-4 feet in front of a cranked bass amp. It would ring on loud notes. Almost like a volume dependant oscilation. It messed with em for a bit until the chopstick test proved the culprit. Edit to add, this was definitely a 2 cent tayda or Ali cap.

    when to use mlcc capacitors

It's very possible that the noise picked up from the pickups and amp self noise is 10 fold higher than mlcc. I've yet to see any experiments pertaining directly to guitar pedals. A no knob(hardwired wide open) could be a good candidate, since the pots would have the largest variation among...

    when to use mlcc capacitors

MLCC are noisy, derate at higher voltage/capacitance changes with voltage change. If you must use them in the audio path it's advisable to use c0g, not x5r or x7r. NP0 are also an option, but seem rarer. MLCC can also be microphonic. Some people don't care/can't hear a difference/etc Best...
