    Unchained - Carl Martin Panama

This was a quick and easy build, although it used some ICs that I’d not run across before (LF347 and LF353), so at least now I will have some extra in my stash if I ever run across another build that uses them. The sound: because I’ve only ever really played through Fender amps (and some Vox...

The full Boss CE-1 (Karaoke Chorus and Celsius Preamp

Actually, I don’t think that was ever really my problem (if I’m understanding your question regarding not enough volume) I think it was my ignorance of how the preamp worked as far as adding distortion in high mode. Long story short, I generally keep my preamp set to Low mode (for a clean boost...

    I can't waterslide

Same here. Once I apply the glue and the decal, I then bake it at about 235° F for about 10 minutes. Then I take the film off and bake it again at the same temperature for about 30 minutes. One thing you need to be careful to do is, just like a regular waterslide decal, use a squeegee to...

    Clandestine Issues

That volume drop is exactly how the original Chase tone pedal works. From the documentation for that pedal, you’ll see that the last portion of the knob turn actually decreases in volume.: VOLUME CONTROL- Wired just like an original EP3 for Amazing Versatility! FULL COUNTER-CLOCKWISE = NO...

    CheeseMonger Fuzz

That looks great. How did you do the decal/what material is it? Mike

A couple of questions regarding the Clandestine Preamp

You can use either. The PPCB boards will generally accommodate both types. All of mine are solder lugs.

A couple of questions regarding the Clandestine Preamp

Read that thread. It’s laid out very simply. You measure the voltage on the resistor at R101 and then bias your JFET drain to roughly half of whatever reading you got at R101. Then adjust to taste. I think most of us end up somewhere around 12 to 13 V.

A couple of questions regarding the Clandestine Preamp

Hi. I just built this pedal a few weeks ago. It’s amazing and is 100% an “always on” pedal on my board. You can find my build thread here. 1. Can’t answer your question about the diode. I was able to find the exact “A” version required at Tayda. 2. Here is an excellent guide to biasing this...

    Quackpot (Waddle Box)

Fairly short (for me) build report. This is the Waddle Box, a clone of the DOD FX25 envelope filter. This was a nice, quick, and easy build. My only variations from the BOM were that I subbed an NE5532P for the LM1458, and I changed the value of C2 from 1n to 3n9 per the recommendation of...

    Super Heterodyne Reciever build

    Loooove the enclosure design.

    MBP Current Lover 2023

That looks terrific! And it is a really great pedal, isn’t it? I had never owned a flanger and so I built the Current Lover, also at 18 V, and it became hands-down my favorite modulation pedal. I liked it so much that I decided to also build the Lectric-FX version (Old Chap) They are both...

    What's on the workbench?

Definitely looking forward to this. I designed and built my own 7 Loop switcher with switchable input and output buffers. But yours looks so much more… tidy. Mike

Wait - is the lettering on the enclosure … handwritten? It looks amazing.

Cursed Build Warning - AionFX Aurora Deluxe (Keeley Compressor Plus)

First of all, let me make clear that nothing I say about how this build went is a slam on AionFX. I actually owe them a lot and respect them a lot; the very first project I ever built was an AionFX kit and the documentation educated me on what the various components were, how to solder them...

    ReVoxer (Pharmacist/Dr. Robert)

@music6000 and @Robert - thank you! Those are both awesome suggestions! Mike

    Circulator

Nice build. I built the XC Phase and the Circulator and find that I actually prefer the Circulator over the traditional MXR sounds of the XC Phase. But to each his own (I just posted a build report on the Pharmacist - a pedal that seems almost universally beloved here but, for me, the jury is...

    ReVoxer (Pharmacist/Dr. Robert)

This is a Pharmacist I built as a gift for a friend. He had told me he was thinking about getting a Dr. Robert and, since PPCB made the Pharmacist, I told him I would build one as thanks for generosity he has shown me previously. I’ll be honest that, before he brought this up, I had never heard...

    Classified Preamp (Clandestine)

So, having nothing else on my plate this lazy day after Christmas, I got up this morning and decided to build my Clandestine Preamp, which is based on the Chase Tone Secret Preamp. I was never really happy with the BBW (BBE Sonic Maximizer) that I have at the end of my chain as a “sweetener“...

Rangefnder - new whine after 8 months

Hey, thanks! I actually tried the 7660s as well, early on but in my case, it didn’t make any difference. Still haven’t figured out exactly what the issue is. Mike

    Strap-mounted Treble Booster

This is actually a Burns replica from around 2000 – I sent it to someone here in the US (RSConversions) who did major modifications to make it more accurate – routing out the pickup cavity, spacing the pickups more accurately, and, most importantly, installing an accurate knife edge tremolo. He...
