Is there such a thing as a “pitch conversion socket”?

Oh, HELL YES!!! That would be magic! The Bourns resistors I’m planning on using (on their way to me) look to have only THREE legs in a triangular configuration…not sure what the extra holes you drew out there are for, or if it even matters, just due to my inexperience. Please advise ;-)

Is there such a thing as a “pitch conversion socket”?

I think the answer is “NO”, but I wanted to ask just in case. An example to make my question more clear: The pitch between pads for the potentiometers on a PedalPCB build is 5mm. I’m hoping to turn a lot of those tone controls etc into tiny internal trim pots instead. Those trimmer...

Delegate Comp: Properly sourcing the TC1044…

Hey gang…I’m confused by the TC1044 required by the Delegate, knowing nothing about what this thing does. If I go to Mouser I see a few different variations with different suffixes… …and then they vary by function I guess in some way (“boost” or “invering”?) and voltage (12 or 9v?)… …so I’m...

    General Stupid questions

Hey @djmiyta I hope you don’t mind me semi-hijacking this thread for a moment, but I did have a related question for @Chuck D. Bones : as you have related to us that it is very okay to use multi-turn trimmers to bias jfets… Is it also equally okay to use multi-turn trimmers for dialing in EQ...

Basic Workflow Tips for Building a PedalPCB

This is GREAT! Several things in here I hadn’t thought of doing which make a lot of sense.

Looking for Ideas on "EQ-less" overdrive pedals...

Haha well you should go ahead and build yourself an End-All Red and maybe you can answer your own question ;-) Spoiler: they sound fucking awesome. I mean, I get that the Distortion+ is super-80s-ish and super-no-nonsense, and they sound great in their way…but not that great IMHO that I’m going...

2-in-1 Pedal Wiring: How Are They Able to Share Power?

…but in the case of the two-pedals-in-a-single-enclosure wiring that is presented in your Wiki entry, one would be pretty much “safe” from ground loops etc? Given the specific pads that your +\- leads from the inputs/ouputs are connected to?

2-in-1 Pedal Wiring: How Are They Able to Share Power?

Yeah that makes total sense, because as I was looking up these specs on all the original pedals, most of them showed a RANGE for the draw…now I know why. And that garden-variety OneSpot chained power supply that everyone out there in the world uses supplies 1700mA for just that reason. So...

2-in-1 Pedal Wiring: How Are They Able to Share Power?

Okay so I THINK I understand the current draw thing when chaining pedals under a common power supply, but let me just give you guys a “hypothetical rig” to check my math. So lets pretend this is my pedalboard (I’m inventing this all arbitrarily): Phaser: 5mA Clean boost pedal: 8mA Lo-gain...

2-in-1 Pedal Wiring: How Are They Able to Share Power?

@Dan M @TravisM is the current draw for any given PedalPCB build listed somewhere on the build docs? I still suck at reading the schematics but I don’t believe I see it in there or elsewhere. Guess I have to go read the specs for the original pedal that the PedalPCB build is cloned from?

    General Stupid questions

Wow I just stumbled on this thread and just like @djmiyta I was completely under the impression that trimmers for biasing jfets HAD to be single-turn. And just like him, I find them to be noisy as hell when being adjusted and really really touchy with finding a sweet spot. So @TravisM and...

Looking for Ideas on "EQ-less" overdrive pedals...

In my particular situation I don’t really need to “experiment” with any basic tone stack OD as it’s more like I already know the weapon I need for my sound (I prefer hard-clipping jfet stuff and the Randall RRED (aka the End All Red here on PedalPCB) is my fave, so I’m really just trying to...

Looking for Ideas on "EQ-less" overdrive pedals...

Yeah I mean I’m very familiar with how “pre-eq” can tighten or flub out overdriven sounds which is exactly why I want to pursue this tack… for the stuff my band currently plays (tight 80s-inspired metal stuff), pulling out some of the lows and boosting the higher mids BEFORE the clipping is...

2-in-1 Pedal Wiring: How Are They Able to Share Power?

Regarding this from the Wiki... https://wiki.pedalpcb.com/wiki/2-in-1_Pedal_Wiring_(Single_Footswitch) I was just curious as a newbie builder what the electrical theory is behind the seeming fact that you can power two builds from the same 9V power supply? Which assumedly is the case, or that...

Looking for Ideas on "EQ-less" overdrive pedals...

Hi Folks, So as I grow as a builder, I've been ruminating for a while now on the idea that I'm not wild about the usual three-bands-or-less EQs that are part of the usual overdrive pedal, which I always seem to have to follow up with some kind of secondary EQ. Then today I stumbled across the...

Are MLCCs interchangeable with CDCs in pedal builds?

Boy that was the BEST educational article on pedal building I've read in like forever THANK YOU!!! Answers my question directly and on-the-head, along with many others.

Are MLCCs interchangeable with CDCs in pedal builds?

The title says it all. I don't really understand if multilayer ceramic caps differ from ceramic disk caps in any way that matters within a pedal build. I mean obviously they are constructed in a different way, but operationally/sonically do they PERFORM in the same way if you put them where a...
