Is the muffler supposed to clamp all the way?

I think the "crackle" just means the gate is too clamped and cutting out wanted signal. Are you running a high gain setup?

Is the muffler supposed to clamp all the way?

CCW makes it clamp down harder. It’s a little counterintuitive like the filter control on a rat. Do you still have noise regardless of the knob setting?

    Kliche buffer enclosure options

Looking at the datasheets for a 1590A and specs at the shop for the PCB, you'll have a really tight fit if you were to lay it flat inside. Considering there are no pots you should be able to squeeze it in there just fine, albeit slightly crooked. With a lid on you won't know the difference.

ROG Supreaux Deux: "Tui Overdrive" (w/Gerber)

I think it's due to the versatility of a SPDT versus the one dimensional SPST. The SPDT can be used as a on/off for a component, but also as a component substitution. You get more value out of a similar sized footprint. Nice build btw. My wife and I love watching our birdfeeders. Cheaper than...

Low Ballers question (hypothetically of course)

    You're friend's an ass. You're alright, though.

Test Box Schematic - Am I understanding it correctly?

If the schematic makes perfect sense to you, by all means go for it. Some people need to write down the recipe before cooking. Others keep the recipe in their head. We all work differently. If you're the only one who will be using the test box and you know exactly what you will be plugging into...

Test Box Schematic - Am I understanding it correctly?

First off, this is a pretty straightforward project and also serves as a lesson in offboard wiring. I used the tagboard test box project as a guide when I did mine, but it was not a 1:1 clone. The purpose of the test box is to eliminate as may off-circuit items from potential troubleshooting...

    Spatialist Reverb

I've got this on in my queue. Does it sound "authentic" for reverb? Nice build!

Eight Ball OD and a Tone Tweq??

Yes, leave it out. Or install it for solder practice

Eight Ball OD and a Tone Tweq??

The tone pot in the Eight Ball is just a low pass filter. I’d put the tone tweak right there with the input being pin 3 and output pin 2 of the tone knob

Buddy's Breadboard and Circuit Design Notes

I've had more time playing through this circuit. Unless I'm told otherwise, 99% of the time I will play a new circuit through a crisp, clean channel on my amp. This circuit shines, IMO, through a slightly dirty amp. Sometimes you need to let your amp do the talking as well. Lesson learned.

TUTORIAL Percolation Station - Harmonic Percolator

For those of you who are fuzz junkies, the PPCB Percolation Station (Harmonic Percolator) is one of the more unique fuzzes out there using a 2 transistors (Q1 is germanium and Q2 is silicon) that feed into each other and make something very different sonically. Here is a breadboard tutorial for...

Buddy's Breadboard and Circuit Design Notes

Our own @Stickman393 was super cool to throw some GE transistors my way for a few "classic" circuits. So here I decided to whip up a PPCB Percolation Station (Harmonic Percolator). Q1 had a hfe of 53 and Q2 had hfe of 174. What intrigues me about this circuit is that both transistors work...

SOLVED Stripboard Harmonic Percolator- dimed is below unity.

Could just be a cold joint or stray solder on the board. Would be a good idea to clean up the stripboard tracks with your iron and inspect the pot connections to be sure. Can you share voltages?

Big Muff Pi on a breadboard - passes signal until power is applied.

-Certain designers like to keep the polarity of the cap in question, regardless of the cap type. Chuck's schematics (check out his boneyard posts) will consider polarity for all capacitors he uses. Polarity should normally be considered when you're using an electrolytic cap. Unless told...

Mach 1/ Blue Breaker combo stack

The Mach 1 is pretty great by itself, but to each his own. Nice, tight build!
