    Ebay Buying

So I just received my through hole 2N5457’s from guitarpcb, and I also have the smd ones that I bought from Tayda. When I put them in my tester the smd reads “NJFET“ and the through hole transistor in it reads “NPN“. Anyone know what the deal is with that? The ebay rip offs gave me the same...

    Ebay Buying

I ordered some a month ago and they were fake. It was from the same source. Cheaper to get the surface mount ones and the SOT23 adaptors, or buy through hole ones from guitarpcb, $2 ea though.

    Windmill parts questions

This is what you need. There are less expensive ceramic options, but they’re usually way off on their value readings. I stick with the monolithic pF caps. https://www.taydaelectronics.com/270pf-50v-multilayer-monolithic-ceramic-capacitor.html

C Exact same thing here. Sounds like its just a normal thing w this circuit when switching over. I didn’t want to waste time chasing something down. I made some trimmer adjustments yesterday, the pedal kicks ass and I’m happy with it! Thanks for your input.

    First Pedal Build

Here you go: https://guitarpcb.com/product/gpcb-1-2n5457-jfet-guaranteed-genuine/ Pricey but supposed to be a reliable source according to some posts on this site.

    First Pedal Build

Lots of various feelings and opinions regarding wiring here. I personally use the 24ga solid on my builds without any issues. This video really helped me out when I first started building. Its a competitors video, but I don’t think anyone will mind.

    First Pedal Build

Yep. I’d get like a 20 or 40 pin. You can break off the 3 you need and have extra (I always order extras) for your next build. You can also use them to socket diodes as well.

    First Pedal Build

Tayda.com The sockets allow you to easily change an IC or transistor without having to de-solder it. You’ll need one 8pin socket for the IC and a 3 pin for the transistor. Tayda sells powder coated 125b enclosures in many colors...

    First Pedal Build

I buy my pots and most other items from Tayda. Pots are the pcb mount and I usually buy the round shaft, 6.35mm. You will also need a DC power jack, 2-1/4” jacks, knobs, a 3PDT stomp switch, LED and bezel (3mm is what I get), and some wire. Always socket your IC’s & maybe your transistor if you...

The Fat Controller (General Tso's Compressor)

I built me one. It is subtle, but a nice sounding compressor. Check out the Constrictor, nice and squashy sounding and very low noise! Simple 2 knob box for simpleton’s like myself. I’m plugged into it now with my newly built POT....fantastic!

    Duocast

Could be....just kinda wondering if anybody else who’s built one of these has noticed. I don’t want to waste time chasing something down if its normal. Thanks Barry!

Built this today, pedal is really cool! One thing I noticed though is that it takes a couple seconds for my signal to kick in when I switch from 27v to 9v. No delay when going from 9v to 27v though. Anybody else notice that? Its not really gonna affect much, because I’ll never switch from 27v...

    XB-MB Preamp & Fat General

Thanks man! I just use one of those Dymo label makers. Someday I might get into making custom decals, but I’m not there yet. Yea, I ran low and used what I could scrounge up. Personally, I like those cheapy Tayda jacks like in my XB-MB. They may not be the best quality, but super easy to work...

    XB-MB Preamp & Fat General

A couple of my recents- First is the XB-MB Preamp. Just built it today so I haven’t had alot of time with it yet. It does sound good so far and has some serious boost power. I like the midrange function as well! Second is the General Tso or Fat General. Killer compressor, I highly recommend...

Glory Hole & Centaur (Refractor board by Aion)

I don’t have any issues like that with my GH....(was gonna say my Glory Hole but it just didn’t sound right ?)...mine turned out great and I even bought a second one. Maybe you need to take a look at your components and make sure things are correct. As for the Pauper, I just got my pcb and will...
