That PT2399 looks odd . . . . the dimple is at the wrong end or the printing on it is upside down. I don't see a mouse-bite at the top either. Pin #1 should be at the top. Pull it and see if you read ~4K7Ω across pins #9 & #10 and ~4K7Ω across pins #11 & #12. Should be ~+5V at Pin #1.

Yeah, seeing that confirms my suspicions. IMO: the volume pot would be better served after the opamp, in place of R19.

Can you at least schematically show us how the Blend is followed by the Volume? It's possible the issue is there.

Sort of. Instead of using a 500K pot on pin #9 of the SSM2166, there is just a 100K resistor going to the +5V supply line. So it can easily be modified by replacing that resistor with 500K pot in rheostat fashion.

Thanks! Yeah, it is a variant with a lot of matching values. Crazy how this one really pushes the Boost (originally 'Gain' using a 2K pot in Orman's) towards OD/distortion with the 5K pot.

Messed about with an SSM2166 and came up with this configuration. Just using two pots, but added two more stomps. The pots are Sustain (compression) and Boost (volume). The Sustain and Boost stomps are wired in such fashion as to jumper the 2nd lug on each of the pots to jump immediately to max...

No. If you look at the pages for both of those builds (Radium Springs & Threeverb), you'll see the "springs" are not the same algorithm (FX patch).

A bit subtle for my tastes, but an easy build with a nice range of compression controls.
