Best DC jacks and mounting procedure

I should really make a test rig like this. It would really make troubleshooting so much easier. Then I would probably only use JST connectors on things I know I'd need to take out later.

Best DC jacks and mounting procedure

I just always assume it’s going to have to come out cause somehow I manage to forget something, or make a slight error or miscalculation. Maybe one day I’ll get to where you are, and I’ll get it right the first time more often than not. Either way right now the way I work, I don’t do enclosure...

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

I’ll try the soaked chem wipe method. It sounds like it might solve the issue of pushing flux from the heavily soldered side that I am having. Thank you!

How do you typically Clean flux from PCB

Hello, I’ve been trying to find the best method for cleaning flux off a PCB. Here is what I have been doing recently: I take an alcohol based contact and electronics cleaner and spray and scrub the PCB after I have populated it with most of the components (except the pots, switches or anything...

Best DC jacks and mounting procedure

I use different power jacks depending on the build and what I have available. When I use the inside mount ones, instead of soldering the terminals of the power jack to the PCB with a piece of wire, I use electronics power/battery snap plugs. That way I can remove the board from the enclosure...

SOLVED Kliche Mini SE Breakout Board

On the site it lists the 3PDT Breakout Board for Kliche Mini Overdrive as being specifically designed for use with the Kliche, Kliche Mini, and Kliche boost. If I were a betting man, I'd place my money on this being a direct replacement to the one that comes with the Kliche PCBs.

SOLVED Chop Shop Volume Potentiometer Value

That would be awesome. I can wait till the next time I place an order (it would qualify for free shipping based on what I am ordering) if you’d like so at least maybe that’ll help save on shipping through economy of scales. I have some other builds to work on in the meantime, and I am planning...

SOLVED Chop Shop Volume Potentiometer Value

A reply from the wizard himself! Thank you Robert. Are the changes significant from the version of the PCB I have to the most current one? I ordered the components for the newest version and I am debating if I should order the components to complete the version of the PCB I have, or just get the...

SOLVED Chop Shop Volume Potentiometer Value

Hello, can someone who has either built the newest version of the Chop Shop PCB confirm what value the Volume potentiometer should be? The build doc states A100K, but the board itself says A10K. Thanks in advance.

    Solder fume extractor

I use one of these usb fan vents and I mount it on a microphone boom stand so it is about 6” directly above where I am soldering. I also bought a longer 3” hose and run it to the closest window. The fumes rise into the fan assisted by the suction and right out the window. https://a.co/d/5zkLeAk

    TL072CP Op Amp Differences

I ran into an issue with a fake TL072 on my last build. I didn’t realize they were fake, I bought them off Amazon and used them in a Muzzle noise gate. The gate would make a strange fizzle or crackling noise when the input signal would be close to the threshold. After posting about the issue, a...

are you planning in using the send and return loop for a reverb tank, or just as an optional effects loop?

SOLVED Muzzle (Classic) crackle and fizziness

Well this is embarrassing. It looks like a counterfeit TL072 is to blame for the noise. I changed it out for a genuine TL072 from another pedal, and the crackle is gone. It also raised the threshold sensitivity significantly. Lesson learned, source parts from a reputable dealer. Thanks everyone...

SOLVED Muzzle (Classic) crackle and fizziness

I got the TL072s in a pack of 12 of Amazon. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are fake. Haha I’ll try some of the possible solutions provided by the collective and report back if any of those things are the culprit. Thank you!

SOLVED Muzzle (Classic) crackle and fizziness

Thanks @Paradox916. I tested grounding the input jack after @benny_profane mentioned that I am not grounding the enclosure through the foot switch like I thought. I will also make sure to ground the enclosure for my builds going forward. I am still getting the noise though even when the...

SOLVED Muzzle (Classic) crackle and fizziness

I just tested running a ground lead from the ground of one of the jacks to exposed metal enclosure and still had that noise. Going forward though I think I’ll switch to metal jacks to avoid the enclosure not being grounded. Thank you for the heads up about the isolated jacks. I hadn’t considered...

I believe I do. Through the footswitch making contact to the enclosure.

SOLVED Muzzle (Classic) crackle and fizziness

I just checked out your build post. I like your Muffler! I also used a glitter brown enclosure from Tayda for my build. Funny, two separate gates and PCBs built by different people near the same date (I am guessing) with the same sonic curiosity. Maybe it’s the glitter brown enclosures haha. I...
