    SOLVED Median compressor (sanity check)

@mybud the voltages look good. No harm taken from your statement ergarding the Wampler Ego 76. I recommend you consult the schematic for the blend control for the Median Compressor, vs. the Wampler model (they could be different). On the schematic, the control operates as a voltage divider...

    SOLVED Median compressor (sanity check)

If you can, provide those IC's DC voltages in reference to ground, by each pin (1-8). They should be something like this: IC 2.1 & 3.1 Pin 1, 2 & 3 = 4.5V Pin 4 = 0v Note you have 7.8V on any of those pins, that IC could be defective, or The Compress control lug #2 isn't connecting to ground...

    SOLVED Median compressor (sanity check)

This is a subtle effect compared to a Dynacomp type compressor, but you should definitely hear squish when the ration is at noon. Given that you are hearing the guitar with the effect engaged, that indicates the signal path and Vref are working in IC 1, IC 2, IC 4 and IC 3.2. The issue is in...

    Solving for 2 Wah-Wah Shortcomings

The two shortcomings are: 1.) 'Is it on or off,' and 2.) 'Why does it suck my tone when it is off?' This was precipitated by a client who loves his wahs. Each one he gets, he immediately asks me to put an 'on' indicator LED, which some models I can get away with replacing the DPST stomp switch...

    SOLVED Caesar chorus LED

Like @Robert said, that is as designed. I personally like it, as you get a visual on the speed before you engage or start a song where you want a different speed.

Proco Rat 2 - Weak volume! - Solved

If this is a vintage era RAT, weak volume was part of the design. Some folks remove the 10K resistor which parallels the 100K volume pot to ground. The purpose of that leak resistor is to change the taper of the pot and leak off a lot of the signal. Removing it should provide a few more dB.

    SOLVED Low Tide Noise Issues

Hard to tell without a schematic. I noticed your pedal is well painted. Make sure you have good ground connection to the enclosure backplate, otherwise they can act like an antenna for RFI. Paint can sometimes impede a good ground.

What is this transistor doing here?

@Fet_street from the schematic you sent, a substitute would need to have a collector-emitter max of at least 2.5w. Accordingly, a 2SC590 will not be sufficient for the job and I personally would not take the risk of killing those FETs down the line as they are unobtanium. I highly recommend...

What is this transistor doing here?

The 2SC590 falls way short of the 8w collector dissipation /1A max collector current. The question is, is that really required. If the regulated voltage is providing reference bias (Vref) than that transistor might do. However, if the regulated voltage is for some interstage amplification...

What is this transistor doing here?

It is acting as a voltage regulator, converting the Vcc of 68v to 38v (DC). The caps on the base and emitter are to bypass any ripple or jitter. It is a 2SD600E (NPN) and substitutes would be: NTE373, ECG373 and SK9041 - or - contact Mouser or the like, for something with the same specs. This...

SOLVED Making a footswitch for my Ampeg Rocket Bass 115

^ This. A standard DPST stomp switch will work. The tip carries the led voltage and also keeps the amp bypass switch in the open position. When the stomp switch is closed, it shorts the tip to ground, I suspect the switch in the amp is a relay and the LEDs operate by passing a little current...

    SOLVED Cepheid Chorus No Effect

I am working through the exact same thing right now! My build modified the 'Cepheid' to a 'Cesar'. I finished it a week ago and it was distorted with the Blend on '0' (no effect) and then it quickly went silent as I blended in the effect. My LFO LED was blinking and reacting appropriately to...

All Time Most Bestest Favoritest Chorus You Have Owned , Played or Heard?

My favorite chorus would be considered a sub-genre these days, as it is a Lesile unit I salvaged from a scrapped Hammond C3 (pictured below). From what everyone may consider 'chorus', my favorites are Roland JC120 (which I am currently building a PedalPCB 'Cephied' into a 'Julia,' using...

Delegate Compressor (Boneyard Edition) Distorts Sound

No. More like or more of your 2N5089's were out of tolerance / bad. In my experiences and due to today's various manufacturers for ICs and transistors, the chances of getting an out of tolerance or defective part are rising. Many are using copies / clones of the etching masks, which only...

    Aion FX Andromeda pop issues

I suggest you set your true bypass stomp switching up like the ones shown on PedalPCB type builds. Check their Nobelman build documentations, page 4. You'll need to use a 3PDT stomp switch. For silent switching, R26 (150k) of the Andromedia schematic. has to be well connected between the...

Delegate Compressor (Boneyard Edition) Distorts Sound

The 2N5089 and MPSA18 are both general purpose NPN transistors, with virtually identical 'on' and 'off' specs. Additionally, those transistors control the compression ('Ratio') for LDR1, which acts basically like a volume pot which senses the AC signal intensity and leaks the signal to...

Delegate Compressor (Boneyard Edition) Distorts Sound

Internet search an imige of the IC to determine orientation (pin location), referred to 'pinout'. Set your multimeter to DC volts, and set the range to 20v or higher. Send the common (black) probe to ground and the measurement lead (typically red) to the pins being measured. All DC voltages...
