Just finished my Sandspur and found this thread. Thank you @jjjimi84! I think this pedal sounds pretty good. But I am getting some weird artifacts if the fuzz knob is all the way up. If I pull back a smidge, the artifacts go away. These sound like a mix between a weird gating sound and space...

Is it doable to put a decal on an enclosure that was already drilled? I have a bunch of them for projects in my backlog (I box all of them) and they would be perfect to try this with.

The adafruit stuff is really good. I built one of their kits and it was very fun and easy to program. Their stuff can use the Arduino IDE but they also have a Python version which is even easier to use (but performance is not as good of course).

I would sand around jacks, pots and switches. Power plugs are usually isolated. If the noise issue doesn’t improve I would consider starting a troubleshooting thread.

Alright, I did not have time to open the pedal up for more beauty shots, but I did record a short demo to exemplify the problem. You can hopefully hear the pedal clicking and the increased noise floor. Then I noodled with the pedal on, then turned the mix all the way down towards the end to show...

I forgot to mention that the noise is there even when the mix is at 0 and doesn’t change at all with mix. So I suspect there is something producing it in the clean path. I don’t think I get any BBD or oscillator noise at all.

I couldn’t verify whether it is actually symmetrical so if you have it oriented backwards it may be good to try flipping it. But it may not solve your issue.

The pinout for the 2SK117 looks the same in those two sources to me. Drain is leftmost looking at it from the flat side. Besides, FET’s drain and source are usually interchangeable.
