I’ve successfully built these with a variety of fets. Through hole, smd, 5457 and j201. I think they are just buffers. No strict requirements.

Other than a couple of foot switches, I’ve never run into a faulty part. I only use trusted vendors and vetted projects. I have vendors I will not purchase from anymore due to them releasing flawed projects, or not being public with their errata.

I leave off the high cut switch. I feel there is enough tone shaping with the knobs.

To be transparent, it’s not mine. I found it on Osh Park and it has been a hit in my store for years. It’s very cheap to build so it’s affordable. It’s often a gateway pedal for my customers.

Yes. I do not rock before I box. I build directly into the enclosure I hold the PCB component side down in my left hand, place all of the pots, switches,and LEDs in their respective holes, and then raise it into the drilled enclosure. And then holding the PCB into the enclosure, I flip it over...

It’s interesting to see the buzzaround mentioned here several times. Yes “buzz” is in the name but it is not at all in the sound. I’ve build literally hundreds of them and it is definitely a smooth, lightly gated, high gain distortion. Not a fuzz.

The struggle!!! This one had a tall rotary switch that puts the pcb too high for jack to fit without relieving some material.

That would be much cooler. This just lest you add/subtract/tweak the gain stages, plus EQ curve stuff.

I use these to place these days. My picking finger is shot.

They exist so that computer-aided pick and place machines can place jumpers easily.

I used to try to snap them off with pliers. Use your flush side cutter instead.

Can you bend the leads 90 degrees and use these?
