Thanks! I am definitely getting compression. I tried it all the way clockwise and all the way counter clockwise and points in between. I think I have it where I want it - for now anyway :) I have only ever had the Xotic SP before so with all these knobs on the Median I have lots to play with.

Reviving this thread because I just finished building my Median. I also can't get to 1.875 measuring the drain of Q1, it gets up to something like 1.56 with the trimmer maxed. Measuring source and gate and setting it to about 1.83, it gets pretty squashy at extreme compression settings. Just...

I didn't see them printed on the PCB. I do see in the schematic the 1 2 3 for the transistors but I don't understand how that translates to the 3 pads.

OK, I see that. How do I know if the pads on the PCB are D S G or G S D? I am assuming S is in the middle either way.

Wow this is cool! Is it a preamp as designed to run in an amp's fx loop, or can you use it in front as well? And is it going be for sale at some point?

I let it sit overnight and tried again yesterday with nothing in the fx loop. It was working and I played it for about 20 min. So the fuse isn't blown, right? Because twice now I have gotten sound out of of it after sitting for a while. I kept it on but put it in standby for about 15 minutes...

I have 2 Samsung T5 SSD that have been flawless for video editing so I think they would be more than adequate for backups. Last time I looked there is something that looks exactly the same called T7 now.

Interesting. I have built an only a few things with GE transistors but never came across using a cap in that way.

I have a Sunlion by CMC Effects that I am selling. Taking photos of inside of the pedal I noticed a MLCC capacitor soldered to 2 legs of the Rangemaster GE transistor. What is the purpose of this?
