What is your favorite "Big Muff" circuit, and why?

What's your preferred guitar/amp rig? I didn't really like fuzz until I discovered single coils

What is your favorite "Big Muff" circuit, and why?

EQD Hoof, especially the Hoof Reaper version (I love octave fuzz). It's a Muff you can actually hear live! I run mine with the Shift knob fully CCW to get that sweet, sweet clarity. I have a regular BMP, a Swollen Pickle, and an Op-Amp BMP too, but none of those ever stay on a board very long...

Interested in a 7 string. Need a point in the right direction

I'm assuming your price range is pre-tax. With that in mind, Sweetwater has Sterling JP70's on sale for $649. That's a lot of guitar for the money, and they look pretty good. Not your typical xXx**BR00T4L**xXx 7-string stylings.

    Free ProtoBoard (while supplies last)

I can't recommend the Tayda ones for exactly the reason specified here. You could always spring for a 3M, but holy moly those are expensive! I found SchmalzTech a few months ago, got one of their boards, and it is GREAT. They are sized a little weird, but they work perfectly and are made of high...

    Sanity check - DC filtering

This was a couple weeks ago - the current iteration uses GT402s in both spots and works fine. Working up the courage to solder it together and drill up my expensive enclosure I got for it. I assume the AC128 is just faulty. It hisses like mad wherever I put it.

    Sanity check - DC filtering

The battery in my multimeter was old, and my readings became erratic over the course of a couple days. I noticed it when it was reading a small amount of DC voltage at idle with nothing connected, replaced it, and it worked. Go figure :ROFLMAO:

    Multimeter has dropped continuity testing?

They just work. I found my Fluke 73 in a barn.

    Thoughts on non-DIY reverb

Char Bliss is a hilarious typo. Love it. Anyway, of the ones you mentioned, that and the Strymon stick out. What do you want out of a reverb, though? For the under-$300 option, the MXR Reverb is a great pedal. You might also find a used Digitech Polara in that price range.

Further down the Ge rabbit hole, possible stupid question

May I please have more context?

Further down the Ge rabbit hole, possible stupid question

Well, I haven't stuck any of these in the box yet. I would like to avoid too much rework so I came here to consult the oracle, so to speak. Perhaps I am explaining my intent poorly... please bear with me. Imagine a positive ground Fuzz Face, a positive ground Rangemaster, and a negative ground...

Further down the Ge rabbit hole, possible stupid question

All good. I actually have made your solution work, but this time it isn't working so I am back to problem-solving. I appreciate the input!

Further down the Ge rabbit hole, possible stupid question

Flipping my Ge FF circuit caused oscillation and flipping the RM caused weird hissing, unfortunately. Both circuits have to have positive-ground power. My question isn't about wiring the circuits themselves though, but rather about powering them from the same source, like so: @Chuck D. Bones ...

Further down the Ge rabbit hole, possible stupid question

Hello again everyone! Harvest is nearly over, the vines are dropping their leaves, and I am getting my life back, which means the pedal building will ramp back up. My obsession recently has been making the perfect vintage combo pedal for my favorite tube amp. Through lots of experimentation and...

    Alex's Octave-Up Rabbit Hole

I just finished breadboarding a Ge Fuzz Face and a Green Ringer with Ge diodes. I got lucky, and of the 4 I ordered two were almost identical. Even with my tone knob rolled up I get a strong octave effect! I had to stick the octave after the fuzz for good results. I'm going to wire it all up on...

    First Oscilloscope Recommendations

I've seen this one around, but it seemed too cheap to be good. I'll go ahead and get one!

    First Oscilloscope Recommendations

I'd like to get an oscilloscope to supplement my multimeter and component tester. I don't want to spend a lot of money, and I'd like a kit if possible. Something fun to poke around with that will produce relatively accurate results. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    Fun with the Electra

Buddy - What I was looking for (and eventually accomplished!) was a single knob pedal with a switch that can be either a boost or a distortion, where the distortion didn't have a volume drop. It seems there's a few ways to do that. I like mine, but I also like playing with my breadboard, so I am...

    Fun with the Electra

The diagram of the DPDT switch I posted earlier is the important part. The circuit is two of these, connected via the switch: The first Electra has no diodes, so it's a simple booster. The input jack goes to the input of the first Electra. The output of the first Electra goes to the 100K...
