“How did they make that sound” thread

You can get a used Line6 EX-1 expression pedal for fairly cheap and mod them to a volume pedal or virtually anything else. I modded mine to work like a Moog EP3. They even already have a spot for the pot on the side.

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

Yep, this. Some people don't care about imposition. Btw, could you come to my house and give me a foot massage. Thaaaaanksssss....

I love this one too. In live footage it looks like he is rocking a volume pedal and it also sounds like maybe a touch of wah or autowah. I don't hear any dirt, just super clean. There is also a pedal steel guitar in the song as well

“How did they make that sound” thread

I've got one.. Jolene by Cake. How did they do the crazy flangerish sound on the intro at about 40 seconds? If it's just a flanger, which one? They don't do whatever it is live.

Switchcraft or any open frame switched mono 1/4” jack?

If the plug is TS, then yes, it is on the sleeve.

Switchcraft or any open frame switched mono 1/4” jack?

Shunt on the tip and shunt on the ring would be the 14B https://www.switchcraft.com/1-4-stereo-3-conductor-jack-w-nut-and-washer-double-closed-circuit/14b/

Switchcraft or any open frame switched mono 1/4” jack?

The only other open frame switchcraft with a circuit are the 13's https://www.switchcraft.com/1-4-in-6-35mm-open-frame-jacks-and-shielded-jacks/?mpp=96&n184=Open%20Frame

    Power Supply Amperage Limits

It has auto shutdown short protection on each output but I'm not sure of the threshold that constitutes a short. Sometimes those higher current requirements for digital stuff are just startup spikes and sometimes it's just for one component, like the screen which will glitch but everything else...

    DuoPhase LFO no LFOing

Thanks. Reversing the LEDs made them light up. I guess the square negative pad threw me. I think I have some other issues also. One LED is inconstantly flickering and other is always on no matter the trim pot or switch settings. I'll try and reflow some spots.

    DuoPhase LFO no LFOing

My flat side is facing away from the top jacks. That's gotta be it then. I'll pull the LEDs and reverse them. Thanks

    TC1044SCPA alternate for DuoPhase

I went ahead and tried it. No smoke so that's good. The output voltages are a little lower than the TC1044 but it seems ok I guess

    DuoPhase LFO no LFOing

All voltages look good but neither of the yellow LEDs are lit. All trimpots set at noon. All the TL072 came from Mouser. Signal is passed in bypass and effect. A weird thing I noticed when putting it together was the led negative pad was square rather than the positive but they are marked with A...

    TC1044SCPA alternate for DuoPhase

I'm building the DuoPhase and I think one of my TC1044SCPA is DOA from Tayda. I'm getting odd voltages on pin 5. Like a dummy, I only ordered 2 so trying to troubleshoot with what I have on hand, which is a TC7662BCPA like the VFE pedals use. It looks to be pin compatible. Anybody know if it...

    Peterson Mini Enclosure?

This is what I do if I actually need to run a pedal off of a battery.

    Peterson Mini Enclosure?

The Peterson's are two pieces of bent sheet metal. You could probably create one somewhere like SendCutSend. https://sendcutsend.com/

This Week on the Breadboard: DoD FX-53

Chuck, The FX53 values for R8 and C10 in the tone circuit put the filter around 234Hz and you raised yours to around 482Hz. The other 3 variants fx50,52,55 have it at 2.2kHz. Does the higher cutoff affect the circuit in any significant way other than just brightening it up a bit?

    (Not Another) Tayda Shipping Thread

I ordered two days ago and got it today. UPS Express for $6 which was the cheapest offered to me for about $100 worth of random stuff, mainly pots and switches. No enclosures tho
