Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

I lived through the entire decade yet I still can't believe the 80s happened. I'm glad I started the thread, you guys are coming in clutch with the schematic links!

AI? No thanks. I prefer listening to the original on a cassette and keep rewinding. It trains your ear and forces you to make creative decisions :)

    Tonebender Mk. II transistor clarification

I'm familiar with Otsola and the price is not absurd given he probably buys his enclosures from Fuzzcases in the UK (60-90 pounds a pop plus shipping and import) but what's capture tech? I follow Seeker Effects on Youtube and he has a video where he builds an MKI and he explains the System...

    Tonebender Mk. II transistor clarification

My explorations with the circuit (and the 1.5) led me to believe that what's important is getting around -8V at Q3c (Q2c in a 1.5) because that's what gives the TB its signature brighter tone than the FF while preserving the fuzz quality, as FFs lose it when the voltage climbs up from -4.5V, and...

Not it at all and it sounds terrible but it might be the amp and settings.

Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

Could just be a bias setting for the fart. Nothing Nigerian about it. The pedals are supposed to ship in a few months. I beleve this vendor already has other products and has been aorund for a while.

Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

No one has been able to reproduce the exact fart. The original circuit built in Greenbaum's Telecaster. I'm not clear if the guitar is still around but apparently Greenbaum himself is unable to reproduce the tone. It might've had a starved battery at the time. This is the product page for thsi...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

I saw some click bait videos about how Reaper is better for track management and more modern than Logic. I think Logic's strength is the sheer amount of software instruments and plugins it comes with. It makes little sense to buy it if those aren't necessary so your point is great.

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

Reaper is only $60 but I don't think it comes with all the bells and whistles as Logic. Garageband is great but it irks me that it doesn't have a proper mixer. Still, I think Lee Sklar records his remote sessions on it using an SSL 2 interface, and I think John Oates uses GB as well. For simple...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

I considered it, it's a simple circuit, but from the demos I heard I actually preferred the tone of the speaker so I didn't bother. I also don't have space inside the phone for the board. I do have the carbon mic, however, so I might still do it one day, maybe in another enclosure.

Also get an old phone and use the speaker in the earpiece as a lo-fi mic. It's two wires, no polarity. Just solder an XLR plug and you're good. For maximum lo-fi I crank the preamp gain into clipping as it doesn't sound as bad as I'd like.

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

Free/cheap plugins could be a thread on their own, there are so many. Logic is absurd value for the price. It has great instruments (worth the price of admission), several good EQs, compressors, reverbs, synth engines, plugins, mastering tools. It's a no brainer on Macs, especally if you don't...

Help with getting into home recording - what do I need?

I recently upgraded my Scarlett 2i2 to an SSL 12. 4 inputs, two of which are also in the front for guitars. It has MIDI, which allows me to use my 2008 Casio digital piano as a MIDI controller again - it's too old to work over USB. 4 inputs so I can use two for guitar, one for bass and one for...

    Calamity Fuzz jfet bias.

I built mine with the first 3 JFETs I had without testing them. SMD. I socketed the biasing resistors anticipating a biasing tour-de-force but the stock values did it for me. I have a full range on the Gate knob so the pedal is quite usable with all my guitars and it sounds just like the demos...
