Curiosity kills the cat: Unison Modulated, what does it do?

Hi all, I got a Unison PCB from Robert with a pre-soldered FV-1. I had read that it's the greatest pedal from PedalPCB  Not sure that's a fair statement, because that'd be comparing apples to oranges. Anyway, I had to try it. I really like the "Dual Detune" setting (switch upward), it's...

I don't want to come off as super lazy, but would you please share the decal with me, too? :)

    What's your favorite PPCB Boost?

Dragons Breath Boost Only thing is it should probably be put right next to your guitar, first in your chain. I guess you can still put your tuner in front of it if it has real true bypass. It's a great boost.

Passive AB with 2 LEDs (or a bicolor) - how do YOU wire them?

Hi there, I recently wanted to build something similar, a loop selector. Like the MXR M-144, but better :) I found the website "General Guitar Gadgets". They have a shop, too, but they also have lots of schematics/instructions on how to wire up all sorts of switchers. The one I used for the...

    High gain

Not sure that's accurate. Doing some web searches it seems to me that JB sold Amptweaker in 2020, or maybe a little earlier. But the original TM Pro's manual has a JB signature and the PDF is dated 2013. It also says "handmade in USA". So the Pro, in my opinion, was done by JB. The Pro II came...

    High gain

In the end it didn't pan out. The Pro clone just doesn't sound as enticing as the "small" TM. See FSB thread. I even found somebody there who also wasn't happy with it either. Edit: Well, honestly he was the one who initially said that something is a bit off with the Pro clone. And only...

    High gain

Yes Phil, agreed. I've put the Aion IVP with all the loops into a 1590DD. But the IVP has only two loops, whereas this pedal has one more. And obviously you still need input, output and 9V. I think it'd be really tricky to fit this into a 1590DD. But the loops are really providing a lot of...

    High gain

Hi Phil & everybody, I finished the Solid Metal Pro a few days ago. It's amazing, I have to say. For starters it sounds good, as expected when you know the "small" version already. Now there are three controls for the EQ instead of just one. And you have two more controls for the gate (a pot...

    First Oscilloscope Recommendations

I ordered a DSO154PRO, too, after seeing a shootout of some of these on youtube. Part 1 Part 2 There's apparently two versions, 1M and 18M or something. I think the 18M comes with a better probe (10:1?). Anyway, I'm waiting for it to arrive. Hope I can wrap my head around it once it's here.

There's a quick comparison between Ember and Solid Metal in Musikding forum. Link Maybe you can run it through a translator if you're interested.

    High gain

Tight Metal is my favorite as well. I built both Aion's and PCB Mania's version of it. I built a lot of other distortions as well, but the TM beats them all in my opinion. I'm currently waiting for the PCB Mania Solid Metal Pro PCB to arrive in my mailbox. I hope to be able to get the side track...

This Week on the Breadboard: The Golden F**k

Thanks for the tips regarding Vp and Idss! I finished one of these bad boys yesterday (with stock values) and it's easily one of my favorite distortion pedals. Like Temol I like it more gainy, so 1987 mode it is for me, but the other two sound great as well. And I love how the pedal cleans up...

    JFET Biasing - part 1

Hello Chuck, everybody, In the first entry it says: "The only restrictions are Id has to be smaller than Idss ..." Here's the link to the PedalPCB Simple JFET Buffer: https://docs.pedalpcb.com/project/Buffer-TH.pdf To me it looks pretty much the same as the Covert output buffer, except Rs is...

Bellum MkII - does this sound about right?

Sounds about it right. And when you turn down the "Fuzz" knob you hear the diode distortion in the background. That's how I remember it.

Bellum MkII - does this sound about right?

I built one for a friend of mine (bass player). Incidentally the Ge Diodes disintegrated in my hands when bending the leads, so I put BAT41s in it, too :) It has this sound signature where there seem to be two different sources of clipping, one more fuzzy and one more distortion-like in the...

    Cetus Charge Pump noise

Personally I like the Pineapple. Because the Pineapple and the Monarch clean up very nicely (on the Pineapple the Boost needs to be off for that, on the Monarch I can't remember right now, I think it might clean up fine with the Boost on). I do like to drive them with a Dragons Breath up front...

SqueezeBox - 2-in-1 Compressors (General Tso and MBP Kompromat)

Nice looking pedal, very tidy build! I use matte acrylic varnish where the can says "non-yellowing". And so far I have not seen any yellowing, so the can keeps its promise. Maybe look for a different varnish?

    Closed Circuit Booster Limiter

I got this pedal built as well. When I turn the Limiter clockwise I can hear a little difference. It kind of limits the volume a bit. I set the Limiter counter clockwise and the boost up so it overdrives the sound a little. When I turn the limiter clockwise the output gradually decreases...
