    TAYDA for OP2134

Tayda has 2134s for $3.5 - a buck cheaper than Mouser but I don't get hit with Mousers $9 shipping. Anyone bought these from Tayda or have opinion on reputability for these types of components? No dis intended - I've had GREAT luck with them but the market is flooded with fake JFETS, OP AMPS...

2N2222A vs 2N3904 any real issues swapping?

Recent score of several hundred NOS 2N2222A, some gold leads. Not a burning question - but any reason not to use them over 2n3904? And they just look cooler....

Transistor testers - do they test leakage?

I have the Mega one and no it doesn't measure leakage. Ge NPN and PNP will be off. I've been using the below method smallbear how to measure

using NPN instead of PNP in fuzz

yeah I've got bucket full of the old metal can 2N2222 that I've heard can be used in some as well - univox super fuzz?

using NPN instead of PNP in fuzz

Im starting to see why people get sucked into the whole fuzz pedal black hole! It's a simple enough circuit - but there's a lot of variation that leads to all sorts of experimentation and fun. Very organic... kinda like cooking or gardening...

using NPN instead of PNP in fuzz

Thanks - yeah I just measured all my 1960's Texas Instrument 2N1304/6 stash and I have a pretty good selection to chose. And AionElectronics has some decent guides on gain and leakage, as well as biasing- I know the tone benders can be picky. I'll probably order a few PNP fuzzes and try them...

using NPN instead of PNP in fuzz

So looking at all the cool fuzz projects and a lot are PNP - not all but a lot. Given that I've recently inherited a bunch of NOS NPN germaniums I was wondering.... Anything wrong with - aside from not being correct vintage wise  - using NPN and jumping / leaving out the charge pump...

    Ebay Buying

Which tester? This one? I've had issues with it recognizing J201s that I know (from Mouser long ago) were real Edit: I just used it to check some 2N5457 ones that I got from Mouser and it shows up as NJFET

    Ebay Buying

+1 shipping is reasonable there so total (for one) is about $5 but it's a pretty safe bet it's genuine. I think that pedal only needs one 2n5457

    A Decent LCR/Inductance Meter?

    1590b Deflector

I've used a 2" sanding drum setup on a small drill press - and just move it (the 1590B) back and forth. Takes a while but worth it.

    1590b Deflector

    1590b Deflector

very nice! Yeah, I've done it for the Simulcast and Gen Tso. A pain but I just like it better than 125. It's sooooo close. If they were just 1-2mm smaller....
